What to do

Have a dilemma..
I think one of my work colleagues was hung over at work ....
Not just a little but badly ... What shall I do.. We have quite responsible jobs !

By "quite responsible" do you mean people's lives could be in danger If a mistake was made? Driving/medical/dispensing medication/children in your care etc?
Or like accountancy or law where yes it's a responsible job but it's not life threatening?

Tbh I don't have a job where anyone's life hangs in the balance and errors can quickly be rectified and we even have a working environment where a pint on a Friday isn't fronted upon. Many many colleagues have come in hungover/still drunk I fear but never been reprimanded even though management know. (I know some people will say this is out of order. I feel it is EXTREMELY unprofessional but they would never get in trouble for it at my office...)
Can you tell us any more about the job/responsibility involved?

Well you don't really have anything to prove it which is difficult but then again with any safeguarding issues you need to think worst case scenario and how to avoid these. If you notice it again can you say to the college in a private and non judgey way "were you out last night...you seem tired today" that might be enough to jolt her into not doing it again if she thinks someone's noticed. But then again she may just be tired and had a late night or have personal worries keeping her up. Did they smell of booze?

You could report it to their regulator but you will be expected to give a statement, and a solid one at that. Alternatively, report it to your superior so there's at least a record of it.
