My best friend is horrendous with money.
Always has been.
For the last 2 weeks she has been at my house at 10 past nine when shes dropped her kids at school either borrowing money or the phone to chase up money.
Ive taken her shopping on my credit card and she owes me the grand total of...er about £75.
I myself am skint, but whereas I always make sure Ive got food and gas and electric, she doesnt...hence borrowing from me.
Her other half got paid today...and I havent seen her at all.
Feeling rather abused.
Would you be fecked off with her?

yes

stop lending her money , a one off , ok, but why should you subsidise her, and stop her having to sort herself out ?

£75 is a lot if you are skint yourself

WigWamBam · 25/01/2007 19:04

Yes. And there's no way on this earth she'd get any more money out of me.

charliecat · 25/01/2007 19:07

I said when she got paid I wanted her to give me £30 of her money and id save it for when she did, inevitably run out, she could borrow HER OWN money back.
Maybe thats why shes avoiding me.

yup, but then I hate lending/being in debt stuff with mates - always leaves a bad taste somehow...

charliecat · 26/01/2007 09:56

I got a text last night saying she would be round tommorow(today) with the money.
I replyed, Yeah ok. And she asked why I was being a bit off
I said I was in the bath.

i'd feel like a cashpoint tbh and not in a good way.

you know how you feel and you are right to feel that way.

expatinscotland · 26/01/2007 10:01

Yes.

I'd be seriously pissed off.

But then, I wouldn't have loaned her a pence, either.

IME, this has NEVER been good for a friendship. Giving if/when I had it, yes, 'loaning', no.

aDad · 26/01/2007 10:02

tis bang out of order

mumblechum · 26/01/2007 11:03

Agree with others. She's taking the piss.

lemonstartree · 26/01/2007 11:09

the thing is she is bad with money. she dosn't understand why you would be upset.

but yes i would be seriously fecked off (because i take money seriously )

Fireflyfairy2 · 26/01/2007 11:21

What does she need so much money for? That'd piss me off!!

charliecat · 26/01/2007 13:27

Firefairy, she was last paid in december, the 21st, and spent the money on food, £50 on gas and electric meters to do for a month, christmas pressies, mobile top ups and fags...
by the start of January she was running out of food, so she borrowed £50 from her X...that lasted a couple of days, spent on food apparently, but she didnt stick anymore on the gas meter, so that was the first borrow, then it was a little shop at tesco to keep her tiding by...because her cupboards were empty and she had no gas....and so it went on in dribs and drabs for a fotnight.
She never puts enough gas on, or puts money by for the other 3 weeks in the month when you dont get paid...shes just like that. I dont think theres any changing her.
I will get it back today apparently...its not even the money, its the being dropped like a hot brick now when she didnt need me to tap money off

OP posts:
lulumama · 26/01/2007 13:31

poor you....and why is she shopping at tesco when she is skint? could go to lidl, spend half the amount and have money over...can;t spend other people's money like that.
