What is acceptable contact (if any) for an absent father?

Just interested in opinions about contact after years of no contact(that sort of man that just walks away and never cared much about the child before anyway). Would you let the father come back into into your childs life?
Considering the father is a stranger to the child and the child is under 10 what contact would you allow (how often/supervised or not)?

Is it ok for me to request to be present all the time when child is with her/his father, at least until I feel that he/she is safe and ok?

Thank you x

Personally I would say no and let him take it to court in the hope that he would continue the pattern of being too lazy and disinterested to bother.
How does the child feel if they are old enough to have an opinion?
Has the deadbeat been contributing financially?

My daughter doesn't know anything about it yet. Perhaps I should ask her.
Yes he is paying maintenance but only because he is forced by csa!

He's a stranger to her and contact should be supervised.
