And that's just my FIL.

Was/Is he drunk? If he is I'm a bit surprised for such a bible-basher! How is it going in the general with the inlaws? (Haven't been on MN much over Christmas so if you have already posted on it, point me in the right direction...)

wethreebobkings · 31/12/2006 08:58

Not drunk, just insists on standing up when his prostate and eyesight are not what they were. The wee is on the toilet floor - but still.

The broken glass was because my SIL absolutely had to have a dessert fork (according to him.) I hadn't given any one under 60 a dessert fork to save on washing up! That'll teach me.

All I can suggest that you learn from this and not have them over next year.

What's your man said about all this?

And why on earth did he think that your SIL needed a dessert fork?. What a pillock!.

Judy1234 · 31/12/2006 10:03

Poor you. My father has incontinence pads. Also we kept his carers there when we were there which helped a lot so someone else other than us was taking him to the toilet etc whilst we were managing 9 small and not so small children between us.

No, it's tradition. It's once a year and then it's over. It is usually a BBQ, which is a lot easier on me as someone else stands over the meat, and I can prepare all the salad and stuff in advance because it's all cold.

But this year it was 8 degrees at the hottest part of the year and so I did a roast and made a cake.

To be fair to dh he tidied up and vacuumed. He offered to peel all the veggies, but as he psoriasis on his hands that would have made them really sore - so I said no. When they had all gone he did all the dishes (in dishwasher, but it still has to be stacked) put all the leftovers away and cleaned the toilet and toilet floor!

And I got all the thanks as they left despite the fact that dh put in more hours than me.

Ds had a great time and was terribly excited, and devastated when they all left as he "hasn't said everything!"

Funniest moment was finding out that FIL has seen Borat.

what did FIL think of BOrat?

webcam with my in-laws in 25 mins - oh, deepest joy

wethreebobkings · 31/12/2006 21:28

He liked it. I haven't seen it - so I'm not sure what to think about that.

Don't understand why you have to do the webcam - as long as dh and dd are there!

MrsJohnCusack · 31/12/2006 22:32

I know I shouldn't want to see Borat, but I really, really do.

no I have to do webcam otherwise it is considered deeply offensive. And when I am on it I have to be friendly and smiley or major accusations of all sorts ensue. I think I've got away with it again

oh and happy New Year!

wethreebobkings · 01/01/2007 01:23

Bliss - they have all gone to Movies. I regarded me going as a waste because ds's Gran and Auntie are taking him to Happy Feet, so that's one on either side. And while I would like to see Casino Royale, not with my stinky smoker BIL.
