Please help me do something nice for my DH.

I'm married to a corker. Really am.
He's my best mate, kindest person I ever did have the pleasure to meet and I absolutely adore him.
He's a bloody wonderful father to our 5 DCs and a fanflippintastic role model of what a human should be.

He spent last night clearing up my DM's bathroom and changing her bed as she was taken by ambulance to hospital due to a very nasty virus.

I don't want to come across as a smug twat, I had a shite first marriage before I met him.
Money's tight but I'd like to do something special to show my appreciation and love for him this Christmas.
Any ideas what I can do to give him a glimpse of my singing heart?

*disclaimer: I have had about 3 hours sleep and am on pretty strong post op painkillers so am being a soppy bastard 😄

A book of handmade vouchers he can use to claim treats like you giving him a shoulder massage type thing?

I second the book of vouchers. Just make sure a couple of them are for the sexual experience if your choice. Others for a cup of tea, or whatever he really likes.

I second making something. I have written poems in the past and illustrated them. I can be a soppy bastard too when it's called for!

Vouchers would make everyone uncomfortable in my house cos they're a bit useless if they don't get used or you don't want to carry out the promise when it's demanded.

or cook him his favourite meal for when he gets home with lots of candles to make it romantic, his favourite beer/wine and leave some home-made vouchers on his place setting?
Have to say one of my fave things is sometimes i come home after s**t day and my DP leaves a note at the bottom of the stairs telling me to meet him in the bath! hes then usually lit candles, filled the bath with bubbles and poured me a glass of wine and we have a lovely soak together and chat and it makes me forget the day. Probably sounds ridiculously soppy but its a small and simple gesture that means alot to me

That is a stupidly lovely thing with the bath!!!

Tbh, there is no gift that would mean more to me than my boyfriend sitting me down and telling me everything you have just said.
I'm not knocking the gift but making time to really tell me that I'm appreciated and loved would mean more than anything else.

Cabrinha - thats a cute statement too, as i said sometimes the simplest things are the best!

I agree with telling him how much you love and appreciate him. Perhaps a letter expressing this depending on the kind of bloke he is.

Love the voucher idea. DP is a bugger to buy for so a voucher book will be an additional Christmas present, cheers.

Think I'll write him a letter and make him a surprise dinner.
DH is, as I type, rocking a teething toddler to sleep in a sling whilst I stuff my face with Ben and Jerry's in the kitchen.
Think I might add a quick fumble to my list of appreciative gifts for him!

And it's also very nice to hear about other MNers with caring, fantastic partners.
