Short version
At contact centre with 7 Ds
Husband gives him MP3 player and his overjoyed
On way home son get upset and tells me the words are nice on the song
I listen and I'm mortified
The lyrics are racist used ever word even c you next Tuesday and are violent songs.
My husband was prosecuted for DV reason for our split
I have been to.d to write down all the lyrics and produce them I. My court hearing
It's endless task as they are shouting and not great to listen too
I wanted to find out if you can somehow plug MP3 player into pc and find out who the songs are
Thought it would be easier to print lyrics off and hand them into court

I'm representing myself and need to get this right so would welcome any help
Thanks x

Wow. I've no idea about accessing the lyrics etc but didn't want to read and run.

You probably will have to listen and scribe. But the MP3 is solid evidence I would have thought.

Peaceloveandpartyrings · 11/10/2015 15:36

Type in a few of the lyrics from each song into Google and the rest should come up for you to print out.

petalsandstars · 11/10/2015 15:37

You should be able to find lyrics online from the song titles - but I would suggest you'd have to listen to make sure they're correct.

Peaceloveandpartyrings · 11/10/2015 15:39

Oh derp missed the bit about plugging it in. Yes. What type of MP3 player is it? iPod or something else? You'll need the correct cable and possibly software, depending on what model it is.

DizzyCow63 · 11/10/2015 15:39

If you can link MP3 player to your PC, usually with a USB cable (although check, some MP3 players plug straight in to USB slot, the connection might just have a littler cover on), there is then an app called shazam that listens to music, it's free to download: you play the song and shazam listens & identify a the song and artist. Once you know the song a quick google should produce the lyrics.

Good luck.

JE678 · 11/10/2015 15:40

If you can, download Spotify on to your phone, it's a free app. Play a few seconds of the song to Spotify and it will tell you the name of the track.

ObsidianBlackbirdMcNight · 11/10/2015 15:41

Yes it is easy to grab the files off the MP3 player, identify the songs and Google lyrics.

JE678 · 11/10/2015 15:42

Sorry, I meant Shazam, not Spotify.

BertrandRussell · 11/10/2015 15:42

I think you mean Shazam, not Spotify. But that's a good idea.

Firefly on Amazon devices will tell you too, just in case that's what you are using.

drspouse · 11/10/2015 16:27

Likewise Soundhound on an Android phone will tell you the song name if you play it to the phone.

pocketsaviour · 11/10/2015 16:39

What type of MP3 player is it? If you can identify it, or post a photo (not of you with it, obviously) we should be able to help more. I am sure you'll be able to get the lyrics to print off, it's just how to identify them. I wouldn't want to sit there and hand-write a load of horrible lyrics either :(

bloodyteenagers · 11/10/2015 16:47

Listen to a few of the lyrics and lyric check them.
I wouldn't plug it into a pc. If he is manipulative he could deny he put them on and that it was you that changed the tracks afterwards and this could be confirmed by a date stamp type thing.

goddessofsmallthings · 11/10/2015 16:48

You've said that "Cafcass contacted you regarding MP3 player". Were you contacted because a contact centre worker expressed concern about the content of the MP3 player, or because you drew your Cafcass officer's attention to it?

Do you have a witness to your ds being given the MP3 player by his father at the contact centre?

If you are able to identify the songs I suggest you print off the lyrics and take them and the MP3 player to court with you. Don't erase the tracks or give the item to your ds until after the court hearing.

You have created a number of threads about your current situation and the forthcoming hearing. It seems that Cafacass have the measure of your h but, nevertheless, I have some concern that you intend to represent yourself.

I seem to recall posting a link to the MoJ calculator on one of your threads which you can use to ascertain whether you are now entitled to legal aid. In any event, I suggest you make contact with Women's Aid on 0808 200 0247 or email [email protected] with a view to enlisting the support of a worker who can accompany you to court or enabling you to receive free advice from a solicitor who specialises in cases of this nature.

Grazia1984 · 11/10/2015 17:01

Yes do check as it might be the child downloaded the songs or even a CAFCASS officer or a relative of yours now trying to frame the father. Certanily check you can prove the father did it (mind you my children had internet access at 7 and could have downloaded any kind of song lyric which just shows just about any of us could lose our childreni f CAFCASS or social workers came against us). How would the child know the lyrics were awful?

pocketsaviour · 11/10/2015 18:00

Grazia, what? You think the staff at a contact centre would buy an MP3 player, load it with violent misogynistic (presumably) rap songs and give it to a 7-year-old so as to frame the father? Really?

I'm all for tortuous double-crossing plottings on Game of Thrones but it's not very realistic, is it?

How would the child know the lyrics were awful?
Most children know that "fuck" and "cunt" and "ho" are bad words... Hmm

Assuming that's a picture you've taken and not got from the internet, could you have a read of the manual and see what that says about getting songs off it?

Do you have the cable to connect it to a pc?

I think if I were you I would do as some others have suggested and listen to them and then type in a line on Google. I've done it loads of times when I've heard songs on the radio and wanted to download them.

Gladiator16 · 11/10/2015 19:18

Just to explain a bit more
DS attends fortnightly contact centre and the staff are amazing, they document everything and the day the gift was given from his father it was all written in the notes
He was listening to one track whilst I arrived to pick him up and it was saying shit
I said In front of the worker that isn't good and told my son your a big boy and know not to use this word
I'm not so saintly that I don't realise some sounds have unfavourable words for kids ie shit bitch etc,
I listened to rest of MP3 player and found more songs with equally as bad lyrics
Stick your dick in a potato
Burn the bitch
Beat the fucking niggers
This is just a few of them
Music sounds like (m to the e ) is very dark music !
I got home and typed letter immediately to contact centre and reported it
They said contact Cafcass
Cafcass was copied into email and said this was a serious concern
They notified husbands solicitor and said this need to be included in the court hearing at end of month
That's how I've arrived at wondering what's quickest was to write lyrics out
No one is framing anyone it's my concern to the lack of parental control my wife beating soon to be ex husband shows our son .
X

I have to say Cafcass social services the police have all been amazing to me and my son.
My Dh is a snake ! and I was told give him enough rope and he will hang himself.
Final hearing at end of month I just pray judge is equally a kind to my son and puts his welfare first like Cafcass have .

AnchorDownDeepBreath · 11/10/2015 19:23

Do not plug it into a computer.

Search the Internet for sentences from the lyrics and find them on lyrics sites.

Leave the mp3 player alone so that the date and source data is correct, incase you need it.

Gladiator16 · 11/10/2015 19:30

Thanks everyone for your suggestions I'm going to crack on with it later
When little man in bed.
Screaming artists shouting fuck you at me !!!! Sounds like I'm still living with my husband lol
Regarding women's aid
I've been in contact with them lots and at one time they would send a member of staff to be with you at court ,however they are under staffed now and can't.
I did have women's aid call the courts before hand on my last hearing to extend my restraining order. I was greeted and looked after and endless cups of tea .
They are ladies in victim support team
After that I had free court representative and she literally read my statement out .
I'm dreading this next one as Cafcass have written to me stating that as this is there final hearing their work is complete
I hope to god the courts just make a decision and I can move on and most importantly concentrate on living again
Thank you
