At the weekend who gets up with the kids?

I'm such a lazy cow, DH is much better at getting up than me, it's nearly always him, with me surfacibg about an hour later.
This morning tho it's me as Dh up in the night with DS2 (wetting the bed), I feel very efficient and wifey, will take him a cup of tea now to complete my attempt at 1950's Domestic Goddess routine.
Am I the worst? Or just the luckiest?

He does. I'm up in the night though, still bf (grrr). But he always gets up at about 6.

BonyM · 06/12/2006 15:08

Whoever's the least exhausted, which is usually dh bless him!

Although occasionally dd1 (8.5) will take dd2 (21mths) downstairs to watch tv for half an hour while we surface.

Issymum · 06/12/2006 15:36

Before we go to bed we leave a cool-bag outside the DDs' room containing an ice-brick and appropriate and inappropriate breakfast items. If we're very lucky neither of us has to get up as the DDs (4 and 5) have a picnic in their room and then play upstairs whilst we pull the duvet over our heads and pretend to sleep.

Mine are 5 and 2. On about 2 or 3 occasions DS has got DD up and they have played without us waking, but that is very unusual. Although DS gets himself up very happily and will play quietly in his bedroom.

Me - always! Both of us really struggled with getting up in the mornings once ds arrived (now 3) - before ds we used to get up mid-day / early afternoon - but to begin with I had no choice as was bfing ds and that habit has stuck.
Tbh, even if dh were to decide he was going to get ds up nowadays ds wouldn't stand it - has gotten very used to it always being me and won't even say good morning to his daddy first thing. Since ds completely dropped his sleep, though, I do take advantage of dh being around at the w/e and sneak off early afternoon both days (if poss) for a kip.

You sound just like me Smiley

I usualy work at weekends, so may be up before the kids (unless Im on a late shift), then I have a lie in & DH gets up.
But he is one that has to get up when he wakes..........not me....no! I'll roll over & grab some more shut eye. Dont even hear the kids half the time, as Im dead to the world.

They definitely know me though, as they know to wake dad first, as Im rather grumpy on waking

Well, yes, was a single parent for 5 years so I suppose I'm getting my lie-ins back.

WhyDooLittleStarsShine · 06/12/2006 16:07

The children come into bed with us.
We last about 20 minutes before neither of us can stand the bouncing anymore and we all get up.

ivelostmyboobsboohoo · 06/12/2006 19:04

saturday mornings i get a lie in and sunday morning dh has his lie in (dont get too jealous tho- by lie in, i mean 8.30 at the latest!!!)

chaoschaos · 06/12/2006 19:50

If dh gets up (rare), he comes back and wakes me up to ask me how to make up the baby's bottle. NB baby is our 3rd child and nearly 1 yo, so you'd think he'd know by now. Also, there are instructions on the tin and he knows how to read.

Is it a ploy?
