I'm a man thinking about possibly building up some courage to ask a woman I know out for a date type situation. We know each other a bit. Facebook friends. Work in the same place but in totally different areas. She knows I tend to go for men, but isn't aware that I really quite fancy her. She's so smiley and positive and happy and kind.
She has 2 children and is single. How should I approach this whole business. Try to suggest something for the day her children are at their Dad's? I don't want her to think I'm pretending to be plutonic before whipping out my ardour. Should I just blurt out "Fancy you" like a teenager and hope for pity? Will she even be interested?
Bit out of my depth.

I would keep it casual.at first suggest a trip or something get to know her a bit better, then 'whip out the ardour ' when your confident your getting positive vibes .
Relax mainly and try to enjoy

But if you normally go for men ..she might be a little surprised .. you'll need to drop into the conversation somewhere that you also like women

spudlike1 · 27/09/2015 21:31

Not sure I'm being very helpful maybe someone else will.come along

"you'll need to drop into the conversation somewhere that you also like women" - That would be very doable on Facebook.

I agree with Spud, if she thinks your Gay and not bi sexual she might be a bit surprised if you whip out the ardour.

But other than that I think just being upfront and asking would she like to go out for a drink is the best option.

ToTheGups · 27/09/2015 21:39

Sorry my phone always capitalises gay for some reason and I often forget to change it.

ThisIsStillFolkGirl · 27/09/2015 21:41

Don't blurt it out!

Do you have the opportunity to talk to her at work?

If it were me, I think I'd prefer it if an invitation out for a drink or something followed a chat. I also think I'd probably prefer to have an inkling that you were interested, but without it being a massive deal. Not sure how you'd achieve that though!

ThisIsStillFolkGirl · 27/09/2015 21:43

Goodness, don't just whip out your ardour!!

Rebecca2014 · 27/09/2015 21:47

I think you need bring it into the conversation that you are bisexual, I think it may come as a big shock to her if you just asked her out.

TiggyD · 27/09/2015 21:47

I see her most days at work (But not this week) and exchange a few sentences. I thought I should give her a quick inkling too, but how can I inkle rather than blurt myself at her?

Could you not just have a get together, not a date, and kind of mention your bisexual then. Lay the groundwork and next time ask her out for a date?

I'm bi myself but most women think I'm straight Grin I feel your pain.

TiggyD · 27/09/2015 21:56

Maybe I could post a picture of who I would say is my dream woman on Facebook, and then choose a celeb that looks a lot like her?

Ahh but I wouldn't think twice about my male, gay friends talking about a woman they find attractive on facebook.

spudlike1 · 27/09/2015 22:19

Tell her about a previous female lover ( have you had one ? ) but not in a way that makes her feel inferior or jealous ..just mention a previous ...somehow

spudlike1 · 27/09/2015 22:21

Something like " I remember when I went to this gig with my girlfriend called Mary '' ....or something ?

spudlike1 · 27/09/2015 22:32

Suggest a casual meet one weekend when she hasn't got her children ..coffee , walk somewhere nice ..its more important to get to know someone form a bond , become close first I always think

What spud says.
