He was home by 8 pm last night and snored all night

Apart from that he hasnt been home before 3 am for 2 weeks and gets up at 7 am and goes into work again AND he worked from home most of last weekend.

I said last night "Thats it. Enough is enough. It stops here. I dont care what work you have to do for whom, you need to come home at a reasonable time before you burn out"

He has just rung to say he is going to be late again tonight.

He obviously listened to my little lecture then

I feel like SCRREEEAMING.

That's not good - he cannot continue like that for much longer.

What does he do? Is the company in trouble or something?

Problem is difficult to sort these things out when you are exhausted and no spare time.

HOw are you coping with him being away all the time?

Blu · 24/11/2006 18:06

Does he have to work like that though? Sometimes, for a short period, you do. Although it doesn't sound as if he is getting enough sleep....

wheelybug · 24/11/2006 18:09

sympathies - I have a DH much like that...

poppiesinaline · 24/11/2006 18:10

graphic designer. He has a greedy boss. Too much work, not enough time. And DH doesnt get paid over time.

I am coping okish. Even when he is home 'on time' ie 8 pm ish tea, homework, bath, bed has all been done anyway.

It annoys me though cos he is so exhausted, when he is here he is grumpy and irritable and sleeps alot so I end up entertaining 3 children on my own at the weekend too. Thats the bit which annoys me.

I think he could control his hours if he was to just say 'no' but hey ho. What do I know?

And we are due to go to a party tomorrow night which I have been looking forward to for ages. I just know he will sit slumped in a corner being a miserable sod and leave me to dance on my own

Hmmm. He does need to talk to his boss, doesn't he? That's ridiculous.
And he will start to be counter-productive.

poppiesinaline · 24/11/2006 18:19

I am sure he is already being counterproductive. He had to work late the other night because he had to re-do something that wasnt good enough

He got in at 6.30 am, had a shower, changed, had some breakfast and left for work again

It's very hard to get to someone who has driven themselves mad with tiredness, though. especially when the solution - a tough talk with his boss - seems (from his addled pov) another big job to add to the list.

I wonder if you could give him a diary of his workong hours, all added up - and encourage him to recognise the counter-productiveness of it?

Otherwise give him a slight dose of food-poisoning so that he has to stay off sick, will at least sleep a bit and come to his senses?
