Divorce practicalities help

Hi,
So after finally LTB, I'm now obviously looking at divorcing him. We have no financial connections, house is rented by me in my name and he has buggered off to his mother. I've made a child maintenance application (not holding my breath) and now the next step is divorcing him. I 've been to see a solicitor who has confirmed I have a case for unreasonable behaviour (which is pretty clear cut) and has quoted me £1800. Is this about right? Has anyone done it on their own without a solicitor? And how would I go about that? STBXH is so lazy and useless he isn't going to challenge anything and it's not like we have any financials to fight over. I just want rid of him, and divorce is the best legal option hitman?
