cerazette

Hi...I'm new to this so please bear with me...I have been taking cerazette for almost 3 wks now and this is how it's gone so far...initial period lasted for 6 days (2 days longer than usual) with 2 days spotting afterwards; then 6 clear days and now 5 days spotting again which brings me to today! I know I'm meant to give it time and it will probably settle down, but it's really getting on my nerves now. I only spot during the day, not at night! I take the pill at 7am and am wondering if I take it at night, whether this would make any difference to the spotting cycle? Would I spot at night if I took the pill at night? This would be more convenient actually. Also, it's caused major skin breakouts...I have a face and scalp full of really, really sore spots....I know others have more major side effects than me, but it really getting me down. Please help

I can't offer much advice as had same as you and gave up with it when I realised that it was giving me the most horrendous "manly" BO!

AntsMarching · 19/04/2015 09:03

I had this with cerazette. I gave it six months then gave up and went off it. That was the first time I took it. The second time, it sent me into a deep depression but I didn't have the constant spotting/bleeding. I came off it after three months and never went back on it. I think it's not worth taking.

beccap69 · 19/04/2015 09:07

Thanks for replying...Bless u, I don't have any other side effects apart from those I've already said. The only reasons I'm on it are because of my age and BMI! The nurse has agreed I can go on combined pill if I can get my BMI down by 2 points! That's about half a stone and I'm 4lbs closer to that, but in the meantime, it's really not nice! I think I might just stop taking it and see if my body can regulate itself again

Thanx, AntsMarching...to be honest, I have felt more anxious whilst I've been taking it but I put that down to others things...but little things that I would usually deal with, I have blown out of proportion. I think today is the last pill I take

I had this in the early days of taking get it probably for about 3 months. Then no periods for two years!

Lyinginwait888 · 19/04/2015 09:16

I hated cerezzatte. Made me depressed. No idea where my period went either!

DollyRocker1 · 19/04/2015 09:24

I've been taking cerazette for 2 years. You do need to give it a couple of months for the bleeding to settle down. I now have a light period every 3-5 months but never know exactly when it's going to happen. I've always suffered from bad period pains so it's been a god send for that.

todayiamfat · 19/04/2015 09:27

On my 3rd month and periods have settled a bit, much lighter (had v heavy periods before) but last up to 8 days instead of 5.

But I now have very regular ectopic heartbeats (like a missed beat-feels like a sudden thud). These are apparently harmless. But i didn't really have them before. But not on list as a side-effect Confused.

Has anyone else had this?

BravingSpring · 19/04/2015 09:31

Just to add I stopped taking it about 5 weeks ago and my breasts have been between tender and painful the last couple of weeks. Its settling down now but has been very uncomfortable. I'm still deciding whether to start taking it again.

Gingerbiscuitsandtea · 19/04/2015 09:41

I came off it after bleeding constantly for 3 whole months. It was horrible.

beccap69 · 19/04/2015 10:21

Thank u all for your comments....I think I am going to stop it, lose a couple more pounds and go back onto combined....I knew where I was with that and no side effects.

Absolutely despised Cerazette. Made me feel emotional and down, skin was horrendous, cycle went to shit. I gave it six months. Now on Marvelon and it's been brilliant from the start (been on it for about 5 years). Skin is brilliant, no mood problems, cycle is perfect.

50shadesofknackered · 19/04/2015 13:24

I've just started taking cerazette to treat endometriosis, has anyone else used it for this? I've only been taking it for 4 days and I've felt a bit emotional but I guess it will take a while for hormones to settle/regulate.

dreamydross · 19/04/2015 13:27

Awful experiences on cerazette. Depression, rage, continual bleeding for 6 months. Will never take it again.

pinkstinks · 19/04/2015 16:50

Been on it for about 9 years. It's fab, had about 3 periods in that time and really regulated the pains etc I was having. Everyone's different though, if it's nt working for you you should feel like youchsbe to carry on taking it :)

2cats2many · 19/04/2015 16:54

I also suffered from terrible depression and constant bleeding.

Skiptonlass · 19/04/2015 16:58

The time of day you take it won't make any difference. The blood is pulled by gravity downwards so when you're laying down it won't exit your body if it's only a bit (tmi, but you did ask.) :)

Everyone is different with contraception, they key is to try it and if it's not right for you, to try something else. I didn't get on well with cerazette at all. I ended up with a mirena coil which was fabulous!

Back to the GP and discuss your options. There will be something just right for you out there, it's just trial and error.

FoolishFay · 19/04/2015 17:18

I've been taking it two years - no problems, no periods and lovely skin!

Finola1step · 19/04/2015 17:23

I've been taking it fir nearly 7 years (apart from coming off it to have dd). First 6 months was very up and down with lots of spotting. Then settled down. No periods (maybe one a year). Fabulous

beccap69 · 20/04/2015 06:08

Thanx again everyone...I'm stopping it and going back to see the GP to check out my other options
