So, yesterday at my university, I was eating lunch and one of my friends came and sat with me. She has been quite upset as her father recently passed away. Anyhow, we were talking and she was saying about how when she was upset when she was younger, her father used to give her a hug to make her feel better and that she was now missing that. So I asked her whether she would like me to give her a cuddle and she said 'Yes!'. So we hugged and it was very enjoyable. However, I cannot help feel a sense that if I become too much of a hug person, I will lose my drive and competitive nature. So, next time she or others are upset, should I just get up and walk away, give them some space and leave them to their own devices?
