My ex p still has a key to my house which he won't give back. He tried to let himself in at 8am today. I'm scared. He has never been violent to me but he is a violent man- often fighting & although he would have needed to drive to get here he is probably drunk too. Should I call the police? 999 or 101? I don't want to waste their time but I'm shaking and scared. Advice please

Have you reported that to the police as well? I think it would be a good idea to get a court order to keep him away from the house - it is not acceptable for him to damage your property or intimidate you by trying to force his way in. If he has previous convictions for violence it will be even easier to get an order in place as he will be considered a threat to you and your children.

Did you report the tyres to the police? Glad the locks are changed.

I'm so glad to hear you have the locks changed. I would still suggest you get a door chain fitted, or even fit it yourself - they are not expensive or difficult. That way if you get a knock on the door you can safely open it a crack to see who is calling.

I didn't report the tyre when it happened but I did mention it when I called 101. The doors have glass in them so I can easily see who's there without having to open it. I'm dealing with a very difficult family situation just now and really don't need this added stress so will speak to a solicitor about a court order - am I right in thinking you can get a free half hour of advice or have I made that up?

Hymencowell, how are the police "fucking useless"? What should they have done?

And reporting an issue on 101 is NOT going to make police get there quicker for any further issues. A flag on an address is used for when victims are at medium/high risk. This would never meet the criteria.

OP some soliciters offer a free consultation 1/2 hour, some don't. It's worth ringing round. Make a list of the questions and things you want to discuss. He has no right to behave like this, and if he continues it is harassment, which is, of course, illigal. I take it the house is in your name alone? Call 101 every time he attempts to scare or intimidate you.

Georgepig - stop being a goady fucker, this is not some parking thread spat in AIBU. There's a dear.
