Best weekend breaks for gaining good company

I'm in my 50s and I'm socialable, active, fun and thinking of booking a weekend or a few days away in the UK.

I'll be going alone so would like to be amongst other people who are going by themselves. Which holiday firms are best for this?

I go with Friendship Travel. Have had 4 holidays with them with a weekend break and a 2 week holiday already booked.
I am the same age as you and for years thought I couldn't go on holiday and then dipped my toe into the singles holiday world.

Honestly it is not a 'pick up' holiday. Please don't go expecting to meet anyone, you will probably be disappointed, but if you want a good laugh and you are able to 'rub along' with people its great. Everyone is there to have a good holiday and to make friends. You might only be friends for the period of the holiday or you might keep in touch for longer.

I have found that you decide what you want to do and there is usually someone to do it with (if you want). I have known some people go off on their own during the day but always joined in with the evening festivities.

Very easy going. Friendship is a smaller company but you have a dedicated rep who will be there most mornings and evenings to make sure that the group gels together and to help with any problems.

I have also been with Solo's holidays, think they are a bit more expensive but you have rep more or less on holiday with you. There is also Travel One and Solitaire but have never travelled with them so can't comment (not heard good things about Solitaire but you never know)

And if you fancy a weekend in Belfast in June or Turkey in Sept - I might see you there !

Thanks ceecee32 I'll google them. Glad they've been good for you.

I met a woman in her 60s who was raving about art tours. I can't remember the name of the company - but I expect its the same on most of them - ie. people with the same interest you. There are other companies that do historical tours etc - whatever your bag is.

It depends on what area you live but I know quite a few folk who belong to groups on Meetup.com . And they then go on holiday with the interest groups for example I know folk who have gone away with food, walking and wine groups. You can then socialise with some of the same people on your return.
