Just come back from a night out, and walking past two drunk young ladies really going at each other. Is this typical (not from uk originally)?

I guess there's photos of women wearing short skirts and showing cellulite. I don't know how they dare Hmm

happyandsingle · 24/01/2015 21:25

There's nothing wrong with wearing a short skirt just have the body for it. ??

happyandsingle · 24/01/2015 21:29

Op this thread seems to of gone of topic but to answer your question yes it is quite common to see women fighting in uk on a night out.

DandyHighwayman · 24/01/2015 22:04

What if I do have cellulite. What would you do to me if I wore a short skirt? Just wondering.

happyandsingle · 24/01/2015 22:08

What would I do to you? Absolutely nothing why would I? What a funny question.

Vivacia You say one woman is killed every day by her partner in Spain
In 2014 regrettably 59 women died due to domestic violence. That is 59 too many, however it is not one every day.

Blond women advised not to travel alone at night? In Spain? Really?
If a woman is in danger in Spain it doesn't make a difference if she is blond, brunette, redhead or completely bald.

I don't think you know Spain at all.

pictish · 24/01/2015 22:57

It isn't common at all. What tosh.

vodkanchocolate · 25/01/2015 00:07

Im afraid its pretty typical night out in some towns. My husband did door work for a bit he left after few months more trouble than it was worth that was 9 years ago or around seems much worse last couple years

RubbishMantra · 25/01/2015 03:48

'Fraid so. I live on a busy thoroughfare in a 'naice' town, and have had to call the police on more than one occasion.

BastardGoDarkly · 25/01/2015 04:00

I don't go to clubs anymore, but I go to pubs, I don't think I've ever seen two women fighting. I'm sure it does happen, but it's not the norm.

And happy there's millions of Brits that go abroad and don't make a tit of themselves, they just don't make the papers/internet.

DistanceCall · 25/01/2015 04:11

I too live in Spain. I have never seen that here either. As in Italy, the culture here is that you eat while drinking (that's what tapas are for, actually - tapa means "lid", and originally they were meant to be placed on top of your glass). And people really, really don't drink so much.

As for the thing about blondes travelling on their own... Do you think King Kong lives in Madrid or something?

Vivacia · 25/01/2015 06:43

I don't think you know Spain at all.

I don't, I looked up crime statistics Confused

So botellón is no longer a thing in Spain?

MrsItsNoworNotatAll · 25/01/2015 12:18

I've seen more men getting into fights than women.

Was once in a very packed, noisy pub and several brawls broken out over few hours we were there. All of them were started by blokes and it was the women who were trying to break it up.

ladymariner · 25/01/2015 17:37

My ds was out with his mixed-sex group of friends when the two girls in the group were set upon by another group of girls (drunk). Ds said he'd never seen anything like it, he and the rest of the lads tried to break it up, and the bouncers waded in thankfully, but he said it was horrendous.....

DistanceCall · 25/01/2015 21:25

Botellón involves young people getting together in parks and empty areas to drink and socialise - mostly because it's cheaper than going to bars. However, the point is not to get as drunk as possible as fast as possible (although, of course some people do get drunk. But it's never so extreme as in Britan, or as many people). Mainly because drinking culture is different in Spain than in Britain, even among young people.

The main complaint about the botellón in Spain is that it's noisy - lots of young people chatting loudly. That's why they tend to move to empty areas. But fights are rather rare.

DistanceCall · 25/01/2015 21:26

And also the popularity of the botellón has decreased (at least in Madrid), mainly because bars and other establishments have dropped their prices dramatically because of the crisis.
