My DH and I have been together for 13 years but we separated last year. It hasn't been an easy year for many reasons but we seem to have turned a corner and we would like to try and see if we can rekindle our marriage. There was no infidelity, just a lot of pressure due to health issues, however there had been some unhappiness on both sides that had been building for a few years.

We get along well for the most part, but there are still lingering issues that we would both like to try and resolve. We would like to find a book or workbook to go through to try and help us vocalise the issues we have and help us work through them. We know it won't be easy but we both want to try. We tried a therapist and we both ended up united in disliking him. He has tried about 6 or 7 other therapists not found one he likes, so we thought a book/workbook might help us out.

Any suggestions?

Hi humblehumble. Love is great when you have it, so I hope that you can work on your relationship and be happy. I don't know what you are looking for exactly, but this is the bible for emotionally focused therapy:

  • Hold me tight, by Sue Johnson

Nicky and sila lee. It's religious but principals are good even if you aren't religious and the exercises are good.

I second ilove. It's called The Marriage Book and is based on something called The Marriage Course which did come out of a church but is for everyone.

I can't remember how to do links as I'm on the app but go to relationshipscentral.org and you can find info on the book and the course. Courses are run nation wide and are really good if you wanted to not just read the book.
