Posted the other day about DP and I deciding we need some space. Yesterday he text to say he has 'gotten close' to someone at work. It's someone who I always had doubts about... He says nothing happened while we were together, I believe him.. But he hasn't wasted anytime, especially after telling me he didn't see himself moving on for at least 6 months!!! She obviously didn't waste time getting the claws in either. I have spent most of the night crying and really don't want to face the world.

My ex did this! And I found out on New Year's Eve, for bonus dramas.

It hurts now, but when you're one step on from this, you'll realise it's a Good Thing. here's why:

  1. You won't second-guess yourself about whether you were wrong to finish things, because clearly you were right. You were both moving on, and at least this happened after you called time, and not when you saw him and her on Facebook in the background of someone's office Christmas party photos.
  2. You're up on the moral high ground, as all his friends will be Shock about the 'sudden new relationship', while you remain dignified.
  3. You needn't have a single qualm when you too have an unsuitable rebound fling.
  4. All the things that used to annoy you about him are now someone else's problem, and you don't have to worry about whether he's lonely/skint/eating enough/pining away.
  5. You're now a whole day nearer being in a much better relationship.

Make sure you share custody of the dogs, though. They're great to cuddle when you're having a miserable moment, but once you're out of that phase, you need him to look after them while you go out on the razz. Wink

thank you so much for your message.. your comment about being one day nearer to a great relationship really helps me, I'm going to use it as my mantra! I've now got the dogs full time, they are the only bit of normality I have, I hated the idea of her spending time with them (god knows how people cope with kids!!) and them going for days out with them. I've made arrangements with a dog walker/sitter to make things easier.
