POLL - Do you or your partner use co-codamol a lot??

I've just found out that one of my neighbours is having problems with her DH as he is always quaffing co-codamol and he is prone to mood swings.

My (now ex) DP is currently withdrawing from stronger opiate painkillers, but has always had a thing for co-codamo, (the codeine being an addictive opiate), even to the extent of filling a water bottle up and putting some in when he goes out of the house.

Yesterday DP described himself as ?anhedonic? and I looked it up and was astounded by how much sense it made to me.

I was just wondering how common this is and if this description rings any bells with anyone else?

a clinical inability to experience pleasure except via drugs

mt - 'now ex dp' i must have missed this - i am sorry.

LaDiDaDi · 05/10/2006 18:14

I have to say that it isn't something dp or I ever use (dp will only take one paracetamol for a headache, bless him) but I think it is probably a bigger problem than many people would think.

I read one of your other threads monkeytrousers, about the probs your dp was having, but I didn't realise that you had split up. Sorry to hear that it's happened .

I always have cocodamol in the house, and take it if v ill. Maybe I have four pills per year? DH takes it less often.

I really like cocodamol, and find it helpful, but not addictive at all. But I do know it's addictive, my sister was hooked on codeine for a few years, and now won't touch any opiates at all, under any circumstances.
