We got the letter yesterday!!

Dh has had 2 clear samples in a row, so the vasectomy has worked and now I NEVER have to worry about getting pregnant again! I can keep my left kidney! Hooray!!

I think my dh has been a very gallant man doing this, though no more than he should, comsidering I have given birth 3 times!

Congratulations susanmt (and your DH too!). I think the big V is the most sensible and mature thing a man can do for his wife. I hope my DH is up to it when the time comes!

Congratulate your DH. Mine says that he wouldn't want to do it and that (apprently) a man can't get it done until he is 35.

Not sure if this is true or not, but at least he has been honest in telling me he doesn't want it. Oh well looks like a life on the pill for me.

Might have more yet any way.

WIntye - your hubby is lying!! My dp had his reversed for us...he was married to his now very much evil & ex-wife at the time, had three fab kids and thought no more of it. Circumstances change, they split and he meets me, 10 years his junior and wanting family. Although he swore he'd never had kids again, our relationship is so wonderful he had it reversed.

I think having it done for medical reasons is fabulous, but I'd never want a man to have it done for birth control reasons. Just my opinion!

susanmt · 09/04/2004 13:12

My dh is 33 and he had it done last November.

It was the best form of birth control we could think of (having had a mirena coil failure). Its as safe as it gets, and I cant risk another pregnancy.

What'medical reasons' are there Becki?

I mean where the lady getting pregnant would danger her health, in that case using it as a form of birth control would be a good idea.

My friend's husband had a vasectomy and it went horribly wrong...he had to endure 3 lots of surgery because of a blood clot in one of his testicles. Poor man took well over a month to get to the point where he could move around without pain again. His bits doubled in size and turned black and kept bleeding...thought this was meant to be a simple proceedure? Arghh, there's not many times I say that men have it easy, but...!

SEXGODDESS · 09/04/2004 23:28

My dh had it done when he was 30. We went to see about it whilst I was still pregnant but they wouldn't do anything until after I'd had baby. They had a cancellation on new years eve and in he went - he said the wind was biting as he walked to work a few days later!!

littlemissbossy · 09/04/2004 23:34

my dh had the big V done just before christmas, no problems at all, now awaiting the all clear. Sorry Chocol8, but couldn't help but smile, well laugh a little, about your friends dh ... after all the pain involved in childbirth is sooooo much worse!!!!!

KatieMac · 09/04/2004 23:35

My Dh had his done in 2000 - day surgery at a GP's by Laser and went Line Dancing that night - so either it didn't hurt (where these no sense theres no feeling) or he is too addicted to LD

Kazziegirl · 11/04/2004 22:51

Congratulations - it's a wonderful day when you get the all clear!! My dh always said he would do it once we had our two and always says it's the best thing he ever did Enjoy the freedom!
