Momo (Heddon st)?

singaporefling · 31/08/2014 00:48

Definitely Clos Maggiore in the conservatory...

charlieandlola · 31/08/2014 01:08

Julie's Holland Park

J sheekey

Nobu ( a bit dark for my taste though)

TDada · 31/08/2014 14:55

Is Clos Maggiore still romantic if you are not in the conservatory? can't guarantee conservatory. Any other romantic spots?

The OXO tower?
On a clear evening, by the window it can be very romantic.

I had an amazingly intensely romantic meal at Scott's after we'd been to the opera - champagne, oysters, lobster Thermidor. Might have been the company though. Also like Roka and yauatcha. Though I echo what other say - doesn't really matter where you go if it's the right person.

pillowhogger · 31/08/2014 22:49

Galvin La Chapelle is nice - over near liverpool st

williaminajetfighter · 01/09/2014 00:06

I second Poule au Pot. The Trois Garçons over in east of London has a lovely eclectic vibe. Very nice.

TDada · 01/09/2014 22:20

Thx. Plse keep them coming.

I agree re Poule au pot (though not been there for a few years). Coq d'argent is full of business people.

I have quite a few placeholder bookings but I am currently favouring:

Lunch at Le Manoir and Spa afternoon (incl dinner) at The Grove

It's a mid week booking and this way the pleasure will be prolonged lasting from mid day to 9pm and we wouldn't be rushed.

Feedback and other ideas still welcome.

I agree with Andrew Edmunds plus the wine list is amazing and J Sheekey if you like fish but I don't get out enough these days. Also I like Locanda Locatelli.

MrsMarigold · 04/09/2014 12:05

and I like The Cinnamon Club in Westmister but we are mad for Indian food.

TDada · 04/09/2014 12:07

yes i heard good things about Cinnamon Club. This thread will be a valuable resource for me in months (years?) to come SmileWink

Rabot 1745 in Borough Market. It's run by Hotel Chocolat and everything on the menu contains some part of the cocoa bean (not necessarily chocolately but obviously lots of it is).

Then drinks at Aqua Shard.

This is what I did on Valentine's Day and it was immensely romantic.

Shard for food isn't great though IMO.

Sleepwhenidie · 04/09/2014 12:22

But make sure you are upstairs in Andrew Edmunds, its much nicer than down (IMHO)

bberry · 04/09/2014 12:24

Clos maggiorre...yes, v romantic even if you're not in the conservatory,

But if you are happy to go out of london then definitely 100% manoir...

Tasting menus with matching wines to make it extra special at either place... Ask fir the 1928 port in clos and don't have a big 3 course lunch before dinner at manoir (I honestly thought I would burst that day!!) I even had to have the husband finish off some of my food/wine... He gladly accepted!!

Have an amazing time Grin

@sleep

Very good point, if you can OP, ask for a table on the ground floor by one of the front windows, very cosy and romantic and you get to people watch people in the bar opposite. They do the he's sticky toffee pudding I town as well, and believe me I have eaten an awful lot of sticky toffee puddings in London!

Le Manoir is lovely and the rooms there are simply divine if you could stay over. I would just say that after a leisurely lunch with vino at Le Manoir I would struggle to be tempted by a spa treatment and I'd struggle with an evening meal. It sounds like you'll have a lovely time though - you're organising a very special treat!

For the lovers of posh Indian food, Amaya in Knightsbridge is divine.

I shall be trying out Andrew Edmunds and Poule au Pot!
