I have a question if someone might be able to recommend a mental health /women support group in Buckinghamshire or Oxfordshire. A few months ago and after years of being in a very difficult relationship and a mammoth amount of pain, we finally broke up. I'd had counseling and was on medications from depression before but feeling extremely low and numb now. All the remaining ability to see some sense in living is gone. Analysing, re-analysing, going through the same events over and over, looking for links and connections, and childhood traumas, meditating and reading...nothing seems to be making much difference to the state of mind when loneliness is overwhelming.
Would be grateful for any ideas. Have to exclude fee payed therapists.

Don't have any suggestions as I'm not in your area pyxok but couldn't bear to see your post unanswered. Have you been to your GP?

Have you had any CBT or EMDR op?

generally with these things, you can talk for a while, but eventually you need to move on from talking/thinking about it and need to create new habits of thought, where other things start to occupy your mind. CBT really helps with that in a practical way.

EMDR is more useful when there are trauma symptoms (which can include ruminating, etc.)

There are free CBT resources available on the internet. it's very widely used and proven to help.

Mindfulness based cognitive therapy might be worth exploring.

They seem to be offering programmes in Oxford and Bucks but I don't know how easy it is to get a place. The programmes are still quite new. There's also a self help book with downloads, called 'Mindfulness: finding peace in a frantic world'.

I would start with the GP, whatever you decide to do, OP.

Thank you so much for all the answers. Have seen a variety of GPs, CBT takes 3 months to wait through NHS before they will try to examine your "situation" over the phone-could not bear it

I think you should keep presenting at your GP's surgery. Do they actually know you are suicidal?
