no way, I took mine off straight away as did exH. Sounds dodgy to me, what's his excuse?

Quitelikely · 04/07/2014 17:27

Depends if its a nice one or not........

NorwaySpruce · 04/07/2014 17:27

Depends, maybe it's too tight to take off.

Maybe it's just a ring, nothing special.

Lots of married people don't wear rings, surely your sister knows the story?

MeMyselfAnd1 · 04/07/2014 17:27

I took mine month before exh moved out, it made me sick to wear it. Exh kept it until he left.

Don't read too much on it, he may just be trying to avoid people finding out about the separation for the simple reason that he doesn't want to discuss the issue.

MeMyselfAnd1 · 04/07/2014 17:36

Actually, just seen that he is not separated from your sis but new boyfriend... Frankly, it is quite disrespectful to your sister. I don't think your sister should be putting up with that. Why is she ok with it? (I'm assuming she is ok with it as still seeing him despite of it)

ROUNDandROUNDINCIRCILESMORETHA · 04/07/2014 17:47

I didnt have time to ask. Only with them a short time. My dh says its none of my business which is right just doesnt sit right with me will see what happens....

There's no obligation to take off your ring/s. I'd taken mine off before my marriage ended - eczema under it, probably psychological. But I'm still Mrs X, more than a quarter of a century later.

PenelopeGarciasCrazyHair · 04/07/2014 20:25

I took mine off, to me it was symbolic that the marriage was over. XH kept his on for a few months, but did take it off after a while. However, he took his off in the shower, when washing up, gardening etc, so I don't think it had the same symbolic meaning to him, hence the lack of urgency to take it off.

It does feel odd without it, so I can understand people who keep it on, I felt naked without it for months until my shrivelled finger finally recovered.

I don't think it's necessarily dodgy. If you're worried that he's still married, he'd be more likely to remove it while with her in that case.

Minime85 · 04/07/2014 20:29

Think it's a bit odd and I would be uncomfortable with it if it were my new partner but maybe your sister isn't bothered

Hesaysshewaffles · 04/07/2014 22:32

Mine came off promptly. It's a symbol...if you're not together the symbol is worthless so isn't required

ilovemylittlestars · 05/07/2014 07:20

Mine went a week after I left - a year later he still wears his, no idea why. But when I first met him he used to wear his wedding ring from his first marriage, I think I remember him telling me something like it keeps women away when they think he is marriedHmm

WaitingForMe · 05/07/2014 08:01

I don't know any women who didn't take theirs off as soon as the marriage ended but loads of men who took months.

But I wouldn't date someone still wearing theirs. Either it's a symbol and means something or it's just a ring and that person doesn't respect the symbol. Neither appeal in a partner.

Simplesusan · 05/07/2014 08:07

I wouldn't read too much inti it.

A ring is just a piece of jewellery.
I kept mine on at first as I wasn't sure if the marriage was totally over , plus I had no intention of discussing my marital status with all and sundry.

Gillian1980 · 05/07/2014 08:35

My dad divorced his wife almost 10 years ago but still wears the ring. He says he just likes it and sees no reason to get rid of it. They were only married 2 years and there's no huge sentimentality.
