Asking a man out

Has anyone done this? Did they like being chased or did they want to do the chasing?

Yes I did. If I had waited for him to ask me out I would still be waiting 24 years later. BTW he was 39 and I was 21 so I think I was pretty brave at the time! Still together 24 years later. Just go for it - what's the worst that can happen Smile

I thought men and women were meant to be equal? Yes I've asked blokes out, I was also the one to ask my DH to marry me.

Why wouldn't a woman ask a man out?

anyoldname76 · 28/06/2014 19:14

I once plucked up the courage to give someone my phone number, he never called Blush

Wishyouwould · 28/06/2014 20:07

I also plucked up the courage to ask K out - he sent a lovely text back saying he had just met someone and he thought she could be 'the one'. A met a mutual friend for drinks a few weeks later and he mentioned in passing that K was still single and hadn't dated for months Blush I guess he was just trying to let me down gently................

Pleasehelpmeagain I haven't asked a guy out before but 2 weeks ago I spotted a beautiful man in Westfield I told him how nice he looked which led to him asking me for my number, seen him 3 times since and no regrets what so ever :)

gigglygirlygirl · 28/06/2014 20:25

Never asked a bloke out. Didn't even dare send first messages on POF!

Pleasehelpmeagain · 28/06/2014 21:35

I have asked someone who said yes but would need notice because of work commitments and shifts etc. so a few days later I suggested some time the week of 7th. I said if he had changed his mind it was fine but he said he hadn't and some time that week would be fine. That was earlier this week but nothing more has been said. Am I pushing it too much to ask him on Tuesday for a definite day during the week of 7th or should I just wait for him to say something to me?

I would wait for him now Please Did you ask him out face to face or by text?

Pleasehelpmeagain · 28/06/2014 22:25

Face to face. But what if he doesn't ask?

Ask a man only if you are prepared to always do the running for the rest of the relationship. It may not necessarily be the case but why take the risk if you are the sort who prefers to be wooed. I think it is more important to the happiness a relationship that the man loves the woman than vice versa, women being slightly more hardnosed.

What does it say of a man's motivation or courage if he cannot even make the first move?

FolkGirl · 29/06/2014 06:36

Blueshoes That's nonsense. What does it say about a woman if she isn't prepared to go for what she wants and is happy to wait passively by for some man or other to pick her up? It's nice to be asked out (I've recently discovered!) but there's nothing wrong with doing the asking. I do think the OP needs to leave the ball in his court now though.

Remind me, what century are we are in?

Why would women NOT ask a bloke out? It'll be fear, fear of rejection, making a fool of yourself etc...

Being a man doesn't make them immune to these things.

I feel so sorry for men, they can't win. They get told to treat us a equals but when then expect to be treated equally they aren't.
