Anyone wait for months, rather than days/weeks before DTD?

Over on the Dating Thread and elsewhere on MN DTD after a few dates seems to be the norm. And that's often howits been fo rme in previous 'relationships'.

I'm in my 40s and have met a guy through OD and we're getting close to the exclusivity chat, but I'm not ready to DTD with him - want to take my time and get to know him first. Am I in the minority with this view?

I am with you OP.

I met DH online dating. I was in my late 30s and a lp.

We didn't spend the night together until we had been seeing each other regularly for two months

In the past i haven't waited that long and have also had my share of ONS. This felt like the right way for both of us.

You should do what feels right for you.

I met my bf OD in Jan. DTD after 6-7 weeks and at least 10 dates plus weekends together.

Take your time, there's no need to rush things. If he's serious he'll go the distance.

Thanks for your messages.

Sorry things didn't work for you broken - he obviously wasn't good enough for you.

There is no rule. You should do it when it feels right for you.

Early sex may show if you are compatible in bed or not. It says nothing about the strength of the relationship.
If he's only after sex or the conquest he is just as likely to leave later as earlier. If he loves you he'll stay.

But sex is also a potential source of diseases and children, so it can be a good idea to make sure that the partner is to be trusted (as far as you can tell) and it's not a bad person to have a child with (regardless of whether you end up together or not). But, again, it's up to you and the risks you want to take.
