My partner walked out yesterday if a fairly traumatic scene.
I have a 5 yo and I am 23 weeks pregnant.
I need a book, a psychology/counselling type thing to help me realise how I am feeling is normal and it will pass. I need something to keep my mind busy and to give me strategies in dealing with mine and my sons pain.

Any books or recommendation for dealing with a break up when there are children involved? something that helped you.

TIA

Sorry this has happened to you. I personally found it impossible to read anything when my marriage broke up. My mind was in such a continuous loop trying to work out what went wrong that I simply couldn't concentrate enough to read so much as a newspaper

What helped me was being with people I loved and who loved me and supported me. You need people to listen in the first instance and provide moral and practical help on top. A book can't do that so easily. You can probably deal with your 5yo better than you think. He needs to know that, whilst there is big change, as much as possible is going to stay the same. He will learn from you that it's OK to be sad and things still carry on

If you think you need counselling, if you feel depressed or similar then do see your GP

I want to read a book...

I don't really have any one to talk to who can offer support in that sense.

I have no time available for counselling as I have a full time job and I'm already taking time out for midwife appts etc

The power of now will help you, I think you can download it right now as an audio book. The chapter on relationships is good .

Sorry I might not have been clear . The book is called 'the power of now'

LightUpLightUp · 23/06/2014 21:55

Thank you seventy6 I'll check that out
