Time to feel sorry for her ....

Some of you may have been following the saga I have been having with an ex-mate ....
I no longer speak to her and have decided to keep her out of my life .... phew - good decision.

I am having a large party ( spurred on by the Dinner party thread recently ) and the invites went out about a fortnight ago.

This ex-mate heard about it through a mutual friend and has now asked 4 couples ( all have accepted my do ) to go to her house for a dinner party ....

Why is she doing this .... I am feeling really sorry for her now - she is trying to test loyalties and is setting herself up for rejection ... who would do that ?
It's warped and I cannot understand why she is setting herself up for a fall.
Sad don't you think ???

Havent followed your story from the begining so forgive me if this seems a little harsh. I would not invite her and I wouldnt feel guilty about it. She doesnt give 2 hoots about you by the look of things. It seems like she is jealous of you and just dont beat yourself up over it. I am like you and am too forgiving of people and it gets me nowhere except upset as I act like a doormat all the time. Do what you want and stop being sensitive to your friend when she obviously isnt sensitive to you or your feelings.

oh sorry re-read your post again!! maybe you dont feel bad about it, dont!!!

fio2 - I have not invited her - and feel relaxed about that.
I have not made a big song and dance about it so there is nothing that she can start accusing me of this time.
She's just a bit of a sad case and an attention seeker.

Cystaltips - annoying for you but she is her own worst enemy! Hopefully she won't become too vindictive

Think I remember this one. She sounds very insecure, desperate to prove to herself that she is popular and, as you say, is just setting herself up for disappointment which will do little to help herself. I wonder what her dh makes of all this and why he is letting her put herself in this position - weird.

btw how did you find out, is someone still stirring it ? Would hate any tittle tattle to overshadow your do.

FWIW, if any of your mutual friends was unsure exactly who had the problem, they know now!

Do you know if she's invited anybody who isn't coming to your do as well?

crystaltips · 25/03/2004 22:13

One of my mates who was invited told me what the little minx was up to.... and she has not invited anyone who is not coming here ( yet ) ... she better had - otherwise she'll have a lot of food left over

Sorry to hear this, crystaltips. Just ignore it and see what happens. Hope you have a great party and hope she backs off after this.

Crystaltips,

In some ways its great that this has happened - because your friend has now exposed her true colours to your mutual friends, and none of them will be tempted to believe her now when she starts muck raking about you again.
