Hi I am looking for advice please, I wish to open a bank account without my partners knowledge and want to know if I can have an account where correspondence does not need to come to my home as I don't want him to know. I'm not looking at Internet banking as I would find it hard to hide but a high street bank that I can just pop to and have discression. Has anyone been in a similar situation and could point me in the right direction? Many thanks.

Does the post office still do a pass book only account? It might be worth asking. If not I bet Women's Aid would know. Good luck.

In order to open an account you usually have to provide proof that you are resident at that address via utility bills and other means... it's an anti money-laundering/fraud measure. But I'm sure if you explain your predicament to the bank, they would be able to make your account communications strictly e-mail or some other method that he can't intercept.

Agree that, if you feel you are in danger if your partner finds out you have a bank account, Womens Aid might be able to help you.
