Last Wednesday the hinge broke on my washer/dryer door. The man is booked to come and fix it tomorrow pm.

Since it broke I have nursed it along. With care I could load it and run it, putting a towel under to catch the leaks, so I've been able to keep uip with the washing.

Anyway, I had planned to do 2 loads today. While I was in the shower this morning, dh decided to try to fix it (hes a computer programmer, and definately NOT handy)

So now he's dropped 2 bolts inside the machine, rendering it inoperative.

I went ballistic. There's a man coming tomorrow to fix it under extended warranty.

Why couldn't he leave the bl**dy thing alone.

He thinks I'm over-reacting ????

Can totally understand your annoyance easy, but it sounds like he meant well!

They like to do this fixing thing so they can feel their caveman roots.

I'm lucky in some ways, my dh is completely inept, but that means I have to do it all.

I suppose you will be left to explain to the engineer tomorrow? Icing on the cake?

But he was supposed to be getting breakfast ready anyway!

Janstar,

Mine's inept, but won't realise it. I once had to get in a decorator to clear up after dh had painted our downstairs loo!

Oh no, an inept man who doesn't know he's inept is a very dangerous creature

My dp, a philosophy lecturer (I leave you to reach your own conclusions about his practical skills), recently decided to fix the cupboard locks in the kitchen. I tried to persuade him to let me do it, but no. Since then we haven't been able to open 2 of our cupboards and will probably have to break the doors and replace them. Sigh ...

Our kitchen is on it's last legs and we've needed a new one since we moved here(4years ago).
Must be about 18 months ago, I asked DH if he thought he could fix new runners on the cutlery draw, so that we could get in and out of it.
His solution....he bought an earthen ware pot in a car boot sale, plonked it on the work top, and just stuck all the cutlery in it.
He really is completely inept and knows it so doesn't even attempt things.

What's his 'speciality', as it were, evita? (philosophy wise, not ineptitude!)
