Any women on here ever taken Viagra?

I am asking because medication I am on has made it very difficult for me to have an orgasm. I understand that Viagra may help. I can't see my GP prescribing it for me though and don't want to buy dodgy pill off the internet. May have to find a private Dr willing for me to give it a try.
Just looking for peoples experiences and thoughts really
Thanks

I took it, but it didn't help me orgasm. It just made everything look blue, which is one of the side effects.

NewName123 · 02/12/2013 16:05

really?

Really!

HairyGrotter · 02/12/2013 18:35

Like PaulSmenis, I took some (for a laugh), it didn't help me orgasm, just gave a nice blue haze on my peripheral vision. Rather disappointing.

PaulSmenis · 02/12/2013 18:36

The blue thing is really odd and a little disconcerting.

FluffyJumper · 02/12/2013 18:47

I tried it a couple of times, it just made me feel a bit 'funny'. No orgasms though. Don't think it can hurt though, so why not give it a try?

DisappointedHorse · 02/12/2013 18:51

I took for fun once, it did seem to really help things but it may have been placebo. I did get a headache though.

I do remember everything having a greyish tinge, like everything was washed out. How funny, I had no idea!

NewName123 · 02/12/2013 19:35

how weird, don't know where I would go to get some. Scared of buying off the internet.
The blue thing is weird but listed as a side effect. Maybe that's why they made them blue?

Are you on SSRIs OP?

FracturedViewOfLife · 02/12/2013 19:38

I got it from the pharmacy in Turkey.

TheCrumpetQueen · 02/12/2013 19:38

I was prescribed testosterone patches as I couldn't orgasm due to medication. It boosted the amount of testosterone and helped :)

TheCrumpetQueen · 02/12/2013 19:39

Funny how they haven't developed a pill to help women orgasm easier, considering we find it harder than men most times.

ArtVandelay · 02/12/2013 20:01

I used to know someone who worked in this area at the firm that makes viagra. He said that it looked like women functioned in a different way to men and they hadnt found anything that really did anything. He suggested instead that if men were kind and helpful and made sure their partners were well rested and felt respected then that was probably going to go a lot further than a tablet. Id agree with this as currently i have cold, am knackered and have no patience. No tablet would induce me to be even nice to someone right now, let alone shag them.

gettingeasiernow · 02/12/2013 21:20

I was prescribed it quite a lot for recurrent miscarriage and had to take one a day. It didn't help with with the recurrent miscarriage problem one bit. It made no difference to sex or desire either, which were fortunately all working fine. It made me feel flushed and hot, not in a nice way, and gave me a headache. It just improves the blood supply to that area of the body, nothing more.

AnyFuckersfrogslegs35 · 02/12/2013 23:00

Same as some others, gave me a blue tinge to my vision, it did increase blood flow downstairs I felt like a snail Xmas Blush but didn't make orgasm any better. I also felt light headed and got a killer headache a few hours later.
NOT a experiment I'd want to repeat tbh.

NewName123 · 03/12/2013 07:35

yes on SSRI's, I usually have no problem at all downstairs but now it is virtually impossible. I am seeing GP next week to discuss it. There is a study to show that it can help some women who are taking SSRI's.

I have and first time I was horny as hell and had an awesome time. 2nd time I got a bright red rash all my body and my vision was tinged blue and I had breathing problems and felt awful. I would never take it again!

NeoFaust · 03/12/2013 07:51

My girlfriend and I take it together. For her it seems to increase sensitivity in the area, which is amusing if we're having a stroll beforehand, but it's no guarantee of an orgasm.

If you want to try it, Lloyds Pharmacy will let men buy it online if they fill out a short questionnaire before hand. They also do Cialis and Levitran.

NewName123 · 03/12/2013 08:27

I could get my DH to buy some??

OP posts:
NeoFaust · 03/12/2013 14:17

Yep. They ask questions about why he wants it, but 'performance anxiety' has proved acceptable so far. The questions are mainly to ensure that he won't be endangering himself. If you have any heart, blood pressure issues or intention to use amyl nitrate then viagra is risky.

One slightly tongue in cheek warning - do not let your husband take a viagra if you don't intend to assist him with it, the poor bugger will be wanking for hours.

NewName123 · 03/12/2013 16:14

we have no health problems, think it will just be me taking it, now how to broach the subject?

OP posts:
NeoFaust · 03/12/2013 17:10

Broach it to your husband? I'd try "darling, I'd like to have even more passionate sex, could you buy some pills for us?"

NewName123 · 03/12/2013 17:22

mmm not quite as simple as that, we have drifted apart due to my depression really, now I am feeling better, I want to get close again

I've often found that laughter is an excellent bonding agent, apart from in airfix kits.

Seaoftroubles · 18/10/2024 16:40

SSRI's are well known to suppress orgasm but there are some antidepressants which don't have that affect so have a chat with your GP.
Also as a pp has mentioned testosterone can help. You may have to get that privately though as its usually only given as part of an hrt regime, and then only by some doctors as its not currently licensed yet for women.
