I was completely shocked. It may not be true, but as an admirer of hers, it is a huge shock. Her public image - or brand - is her business. Not sure if she can recover from this. What do you think?

Team Nigella here too.

MistressDeeCee · 07/12/2013 07:22

Not hugely interested one way or another but I dont believe her career will be at an end because of this; although I guess some salacious people would love it to be. She married a controlling and abusive man who is still attempting to abuse her from a distance and ruin her life, as I see it. He comes across as vindictive and bitter and hopefully people will see through his spite and she wont be expected to pay the price for it. She's good at her job, thats what should matter. I dont think she'll be villified for not being pure and saintlike in all her doings..

whereiseveryone · 07/12/2013 07:32

What, she took drugs a few times? Hasn't everyone?

cheesypastaplease · 07/12/2013 07:39

I was talking to dh about this earlier. I really can't understand why people care? In the grand scheme of things it's not that big a deal, and I really don't understand why it's getting so news time - I certainly couldn't care less and will even keep using her cook books.

Rooners · 07/12/2013 07:39

Not another journo. FFS

Mishmashofstyles · 07/12/2013 07:44

I don't read the papers. What has Nigella done? Had a bad trip while appearing on "Chatty Man"? Got naked and cried?

SoupDragon · 07/12/2013 07:45

And you joined MN just t ask this did you, OP? Got an article to write?

Alchemist · 07/12/2013 07:46

I am not at all bothered by Nigella's private life. You choose to take drugs or not. I doubt CS has never had a toot of cocaine. Smile

It always struck me as very odd that CS didn't eat her food (read this in an interview with NL) as he would eat a bowl of cornflakes or some eggs. Like when he went on the diet and would eat 6 eggs a day fuelled by coke possibly. At the time it really struck me as strange but his subsequent actions show he was always a twat.

EirikurNoromaour · 07/12/2013 07:46

Nigella and drugs is a total non story. I think she's being very dignified. Sadly I doubt that's the last of the shit he will fling her way.

CheeryCherry · 07/12/2013 07:54
Hmm
Animation · 07/12/2013 08:33

Well said Choice.

SquidgyMummy · 07/12/2013 08:41

She has admitted to taking drugs to help her through low points in her life; when her first husband was dying of cancer and to get through the worst of her marriage with Saatchi.

Saatchi is a controlling bastard who seems hellbent on destroying her.

I couldn't give a stuff what Nigella does in her private life. She is dignified, Saatchi is an idiot and is destroying himself with all this revenge seeking PR, most people are not idiots and can see through all of this.

Joysmum · 07/12/2013 12:33

Some people take drugs, some drink, some smoke, some over-exercise, some eat, some gamble, some shop, some do extreme sports....

People who struggle in life find different ways to cope. Not a problem if occasional, a problem if it's habitual.

ProfessorDent · 07/12/2013 14:08

Nigella looks great, doesn't she? Divorce seems to suit her. I wish I had kept that recent edition of the Evening Standard and had it framed.

Bit mystifying that she would be involved with such a supposedly nasty bloke, or that Trinny (who has a self-confessed history of drug recovery) would want to be involved with him.

Somehow it is seen as sexy when women do coke, any article on the subject has a pic of a foxy chick tooting a line, never a bloke. It's not like any male pop star hasn't done it.

I think Saatchi has set her up for revenge..... with the promise to the Grillo Girls that if they go to trial and expose Nigella he will make sure they get off .....

Or is this one conspiracy theory too many

Clutterbugsmum · 07/12/2013 14:59

I don't care if Nigella has done drugs.

I do wonder why he thinks by trying to drag her and her late husband through the mud will make anyone think he isn't that bad.

It just makes me glad that Nigella has got out of a bad relationship and is getting on with her life.

You have to remember this is all about the sister on trial to get away with fraud.

OddBoots · 07/12/2013 15:08

Meh, it's not news, she's not going around selling or promoting drugs, she didn't (as far as we know) put anyone in danger while trying them. Her body, her choice.

I would say she needed every sniff of it after realising she married such an old turd.

FluffyJumper · 07/12/2013 23:05

I think she's great. My opinion of her has improved in the way she has handled this situation.

Kundry · 08/12/2013 10:44

I think she's great. Fab article about her first husband (and why they took drugs) in the Observer today

I've just read the guardian article too. I knew her husband had died from cancer but I didn't know about her mum and sister Sad I like her even better than before. She's smart, funny and beautiful. Seems to me her only mistake was having anything to do with Saatchi.
