Dh had a text message whilst he eating his meal last night, was work related and needed a response so he asked me to answer it, which i did.
later on in evening he picks his phone up an accuses me of reading his text messages. I pointed out to him that he asked me to respond to text message earlier, his response was fill you boots if you want to check my phone..I am so angry as he has no right to say this as a long time ago he had a affair which I only found out by checking his phone, I had never done this before btw! I just feel sad that after all this time as passed we haven't moved on. Really feel I should confront him over this but don't have the energy for a argument either..Im I overthinking this?

Not at all. He's on the defensive, it's an overreaction on his part and, for someone who had an affair once, that's not at all the right attitude to take. He's in no position to hurl accusations and, in your shoes, I'd be suspicious. Sorry.

Thanks cognito. He has never gone out of his way to give me peace of mind, hes being a twat isn't he?

How long ago was the affair?

mrshap · 19/11/2013 10:33

Six years ago.

He's got a short memory then. Either that or he's up to his old tricks and has a guilty conscience. I think you have to call him out on this. So often 'moving on' means the cheat expects the innocent party to 'just forget about it' rather than addressing the real problem.

mrshap · 19/11/2013 11:01

Yes he does expect me to forget it ever happened but then pulls stunts like this, feel like Im teetering on the edge again!

Sounds like he's hiding something OP. An innocent man would have no reason to go off the rails. I'm sorry :(

mrshap · 19/11/2013 12:58

Says he thought I was checking up on him, I wasn't he has a different phone to me and was just seeing what it did as am a bit of a geek that way, which he knows!
Infidelity never goes away does it? It just keeps popping back up and leaves me feeling like crap, for something I didn't even do.. I wont be made to feel guilty, have told him he out of order last night..
Is there a nice place somewhere I can run away to and be treated with respect and not lied too?

If you find that nice place mrshap can I come along too?!

Even without the history, I think you would question it. You're right though, the scars of infidelity never completely heal.

Treat yourself to something you enjoy, you deserve it x

CogitoErgoSometimes · 19/11/2013 13:55

You' re already in the nice place. It's the company that's the problem, not the place.

mrshap · 19/11/2013 16:32

MN nice place holiday now there's a thought..
