Question re keystroke software

I'm asking this on behalf of a good friend who believes that her husband is having an affair (he also has past form)

She thinks that there will be evidence on his laptop but he doesn't let it out of his site.

I have seen mentioned on here software that monitors keystroke activity. Would she be able to install this on his laptop without his knowledge?

Would he get a message asking him to 'accept' it or can she set it up remotely without him knowing?

If anyone has experience of using it then what did the set-up process look like?

Thank you - she's frantic :(

If she trusts him so little that she needs to spy on him the relationship is over anyway.

If he is guilty then relationship over.
If he is not guilty a) she doesn't trust him and b) she has massively betrayed his trust.

You can't set it up remotely (unless you're at work on a network) - you can imagine the problems if anyone could install it on someone's machine.

Does she think it's purely online or that they meet up?

There has been a physical relationship in the past which is now supposedly over but she feels as if he is hiding something again.

You are absolutely right about the trust issue, I have spent lots of time trying to talk to her about the various implications of what she is proposing.

I think that she is unwilling to just walk away from 20 years of marriage without firm evidence.

I can't judge her, it's awful.

So what she want to know is how others manage to monitor their partners using the software, perhaps it would work with a shared family computer but not in the scenario she is proposing.

What would he 'see' an email? A pop-up?

As said above, what's the point? She has to walk away so that the onus is on him to provide this firm evidence that he should be readmitted. The trouble your friend has is that, because she's accepted the behaviour once, she's set the precedent. Even if she had a signed confession from him, she won't do anything about it.

Once the software is installed he would only be able to see it if he went to add/uninstall programs and knew what he was looking for. But she would need access to the laptop to install it and check it. Really not worth it IMO.

Debates how much I'd out myself if I give more details.

There are exploits available which could install software on the target device.
The software can be well hidden but the outgoing comms can be an avenue of exposure...

TBH she might as well cut her losses and LTB. Trust has already gone
