How much money around does your husband give you a week just want to see so can compare

You can't compare just off a figure. You need to know total income, who pays the bills, does the other half earn any money too, who controls benefits?

Are you worried your DH isn't giving you enough?

Norudeshitrequired · 28/10/2013 18:58

I don't understand the question - why does your husband need to give you money? Surely you just share everything as that's what marriage is about.

rubyslippers · 28/10/2013 19:02

None

We share everything financially

Do you have to ask your DH for money? Do you hVe to account for what you spend?

Reality · 28/10/2013 19:03

He doesn't give me anything, we both earn (he earns double what I do though) and we both have equal access to the pot.

Groovee · 28/10/2013 19:07

We have a joint account. We always have shared money.

cloudskitchen · 28/10/2013 19:09

My husband works and I don't. I spend what I need on my credit card and he pays it off at the end of the month. No fixed amount.

YellowTulips · 28/10/2013 19:13

None.

We pool resources for bills and savings and split the rest equally between us.

We are a "team" and we share money as equitably as childcare, housework etc

ALittleBitOfHalloweenMagic · 28/10/2013 19:15

Everything goes in and comes out of our joint account . We are on pretty much the same salary but as I work part time he earns double what I do .

ruddynorah · 28/10/2013 19:16

When I had a husband he paid all the bills out of his salary. I paid for everything for the kids out of mine. We were left with an equal amount to ourselves.

Annianni · 28/10/2013 19:27

I'm a sahm, dh works.

He pays all the bills, including food, my car insurance etc.

I have approx 10% of his take home pay for my pocket money to cover bits for the dc's, petrol, food when out and about etc.
I also have a debit card to cover anything else needed.

It works for us at the moment.

HerRoyalNotness · 28/10/2013 19:33

I leave him with 50/week for incidentals and take the rest. I manage the budget and pay the bills, so it seems fair.

Vivacia · 28/10/2013 19:42

I earn about three times what he does. We pool most of our income, each keeping equal spending money. He spends the joint cash on whatever, I trust him and we have very similar attitudes to spending and saving.

Dahlen · 28/10/2013 20:10

You can't really compare to other people. It all depends on what your household income and outgoings are. There are numerous ways of achieving a fair balance. IMO the marriage contract should be interpreted as a complete sharing of finances, although that doesn't necessarily translate as joint accounts. It is perfectly possible to share and be fair with separate accounts.

As a general rule of thumb, I would say that if you feel you have to 'ask' for money, or if your DH is spending money on his own leisure while you're having to forego your favourite shampoo in favour of food for the DC, then something is very badly amiss.
