I know this is probably a topic that appears a lot but I just wanted to maybe hear from people that have been in a similar situation and how it worked out.

Our ds is now 5. I had a great pregnancy, great labour (as great as they can be) - no pnd, no problems after, typical baby, happy & healthy. I feel lucky and very blessed & DH earns very well so money isn't an issue with having another child.

DH is typical man - his only memories of having a baby is how tired he was and how much sleep he lost (I did all the night feeds not him) And ds slept through from 6 weeks so aside from illness he was great.

Is this commons for men to feel like this when a 2nd child is discussed?

My DH isn't entirely convinced about #2 but we are trying anyway. The tiredness is the main issue for him too. I think he is mostly swayed buy how great DD is. The idea of having another great DC is tempting and the sleep thing doesn't last forever. So to answer your question, my DH is the same, not sure about other men.

We have discussed it a lot. He has agreed, in leaving work in December to set up my at home business and the plan is to start trying around June next year.

This all sounds positive but I don't want to have a baby with someone who isn't 100% on board. He is great, we have a fantastic marriage (don't mean to sound snooty with that) I just mean he is a great husband and we are so happy.

I think he thinks he is a bit too old, we have busy lives but who doesn't and I won't be working then so it will be loads easier. I'm hoping he will warm to the idea properly once it gets closer to the time. Smile

My DH wanted to put of DC2 until DD1 was about 4 - she was a fairly easy baby too. (Pretty crap labour though!)
As we were already both 37, I convinced him to start trying when she turned 2. First month trying, I conceived identical twins!! They are now 3 weeks old in one big Moses basket together. So adorable I can't describe it. Oh god, writing this is making my milk let down! We did have some arguments along they way - he felt pressured into it by me, and was less supportive than I felt I deserved through a really really stressful and physically difficult pregnancy. He's falling in love with them now though.
There's never a good time to embark on the effort of looking after newborns, lovely as they are. I was more thinking of the overall shape of our family than the timing of "the coping years".
