Anyone tell me how you go about this? Do I need to go to doctors or hospital/ STI clinic . Do I need an appointment ? Does it need to be local ( as one of the mums at school works in the local one I think) /:

Hello first of all don t consider it sti testing what you are getting is a sexual health check It's a sensible and responsible thing to do if you are starting a new sexual relationship or if you have taken any sexual health related risks.Find your local clinic and pop along to one of the drop in sessions.Confidentiality is central you book in you are given a number and that's it.Your doctor won t be informed without your consent.Where I work sexual health and contraception run side by side in the same dept so as they do in most places so no need to be embarrassed about being seen.Dont worry about another school mum she will have been in the same situation loads of times and will know how to handle it.
Depending on what treatment you need you can either take your own swabs or get nurse/doc to give you an exam. You can also get blood testing done if you want the full service. Most swabs can be looked at under the microscope then and there and treatment started It's usually a good idea to wait a week or so since the unprotected encounter or go back a week or so later to be sure that you are clear. You can also get emergency contraception and condoms if required. If you are still worried google sexual health service and find the drop in for your next town. Please don t worry about being judged sexual health workers are some of the funniest most grounded staff in all of the NHS.Incidentally remember that they will have seen and heard it all so be honest and just go you will feel loads better.

Years since I've been to one but when I did go, you could just drop in without an appointment - although you might have a little wait if it was a busy day.

It'll be fine. The clinic staff are completely matter of fact and your local doctor genuinely won't be informed if you don't wish it.

Don't worry at all.
