Don't men make a fuss

I suppose this might be a health issue, but I've put it here.

Some of you will know that last year I had a hip replacement, followed by a broken thigh, over 12 hours of surgery within 6 weeks, 2 lots of bed rest, six months of wheelchairness (the first 4 wearing a big brace thing from waist to ankle). Oh, and quite a lot of pain.

On Saturday evening my dh stubbed his toe. He is still limping, complaining about the pain, being bad-tempered with me and ds, and making a right song (but no dance ) about it.

Now I understand that he did catch the protuding bit of wall pretty hard with his foot, and was just in his socks. It is pretty badly bruised, moving up the sole of his foot, but not particularly swollen so I don't think it's broken.
He has gone to work in sandals all this week so far, and when he was bringing dinner thru last night kept going "ugh, ugh" each time he put his foot down.

I have suggested he goes for Xray but he just says 'They don't do anything for broken toes anyway'

I'm trying not to shout at him "EITHER GET IT LOOKED AT OR SHUT UP"

is it just me.

Lou, I love that. When was little we had a small dog, whose leg got damaged when he was a puppy, and was set in plaster.

He lived till he was 14, and always remembered that if he wanted extra attention he should limp!

Dh hasn't picked that up, but any pain will cause him to look up at me at 2 minute intervals (or less), with his pained expression, presumably in case I forget he's in agony.

Oh, and he swears our dog keeps standing on his bad foot, making him scream in agony.
a) she doesn't usually stand on people's feet
b) she is a very small cavalier spaniel (not like Bear's ox-hound !!

Dh is pretty much of a stoic, but I once stopped one of those "the worst pain ever" conversations in a pub between two men dead in it's tracks by quietly intoning "18 hours of labour, 2 and a half of pushing, forceps, episotomy, more stiches than they could count, unable to stop the bleeding.....and all with NO painkillers"

Lol Easy. I can see some similarities, except dh is definitely not as cute as a puppy!

Funny how they are all so similar! When I was waiting for my caesarean, all gowned up and ready to go, DH was visibly shaking, sweating, feeling sick, telling me how much he hated hospitals and how difficult it all was for him!! FOR HIM!
Outrageous.

An update on the foot!

This morning I snuggled up before ds woke up, and kissed dh. Do you know what he said?

"I can't, this toe sort of makes me .... all limp"

I turned over, trying not to gufffaw too loudly. so any of you out there ttc, make sure your other half protects his toes

Jeez - you lot have hooked up with a load of wimps!

My mates are a variety - from the 'I've stubbed my toe - call an ambulance' brigade to the "oops - just cut a finger with a circular saw - put it on ice and we'll nip to the doctor once I've finished these shelves" variety.

Personally, I'm mixed - I don't mind breaking bones skateboarding - part of the game - but if I've got flu, I'm hell
