NC for this.

I can't go into details as it's too identifying but this morning I had to report someone I regard as a friend to childrens services.

I care very deeply about this family and have tried to broach it directly with them but all attempts have fallen on deaf ears.

Whilst there is no actual physical abuse taking place emotional damage is occurring and it's very obvious.

I feel like a complete cow - but I had to do something.

Yes, you had to do something.

Take care x

You have acted wisely here.

Bad things happen when good people stand by and do nothing.

When parents can not be the advocate that children deserve to have, then someone needs to step in. You did the right thing.

Thank you all.
It's really helped to have this 'out there'.
There is a child literally screaming out for help. I've tried to give it but when you spell it out in words of one syllable and they're still oblivious to seeing it then there's only one thing you can do.
Need to stop feeling bad.

Of course you feel upset because you are obviously a caring person. You have done what needs to be done - well done. Try to make peace with the difficult but important thing you have done. Think of what you are doing for that poor child and the difference you will have made to his/her life.

It will create upheaval, yes, but you acted for the best, and you know it. Remain confident of that.

Any upheaval caused is not your fault, though: it is down to the irresponsibility of the parents involved, since they failed to act in the best interests of the child in their care.
