Do you wonder what is behind it?

Specially coming from someone that doesn't share a lot and doesn't even comment on the photos that herself or her children are tagged in?

I know, I know
Facebook...

Whatwouldyousay · 14/06/2013 21:52

I've never got my head around why anyone wants to play there relationship out on FB - but I guess that might be a generation thing.

WafflyVersatile · 14/06/2013 21:52

sarcasm?

or maybe she is just having a nice night after not feeling too chirpy for a while.

Dorange · 14/06/2013 22:00

The night hasn't' even started yet...she was on her way still.
She isn't very young either...definitely over 35, so maybe not a generation thing...

missbumbumbrazil · 14/06/2013 22:04

I wouldnt' read too much into it. Maybe she just fancied doing a facebook update. I do it now and again, not constantly.

GuffSmuggler · 14/06/2013 22:07

I don't have a phone with internet so don't understand this at all.

When people do this I imagine their poor partner not having such a great night as their other half has their head buried in their phone telling the internet what a wonderful time they're having!

Why not focus on enjoying the evening than updating on blimmin FB all the time!?

Boosterseat · 14/06/2013 22:12

Pissed up stealth boast?

Dorange · 14/06/2013 22:13

If she feels the need to get the phone out and log in on FB to let everyone know what a great time she is having so maybe it isn't that great ?

I know when I am enjoying myself I don't even remember I have a phone, unless I am expecting a call or txt.

OP posts:
Dorange · 14/06/2013 22:14

She doesn't generally stealth boast or blatantly boast, so I am not sure.

Maybe dh popped to the loo and she found herself with nothing to do and wanted to look busy for a few mins... I've been there!

Boosterseat · 14/06/2013 22:20

I read AIBU when I'm waiting on someone.

I have my favourites bookmarked Grin

Dorange · 14/06/2013 22:22

I read MN too if I need to "look busy"
Or just go through my txt messages to make sure I replied to them all.

Why say thanks to DH through FB if he is right there having a great time with you?

Prove something to somebody?

OP posts:
silverangel · 14/06/2013 22:30

Show. Like ridiculously loud sex...

LEMisdisappointed · 14/06/2013 22:39

Why do you care?

I personally find it irritating when people post what a wonderful time they are having:

trying. too. hard. !

LEMisdisappointed · 14/06/2013 22:42

Grin silverangel

I could be quite tempted to have a status that reads: Having a wonderful time, relaxing in bed while DP is between my legs, thanks DP, good technique......ooohhhh, ahhhhhh!!

flowerpippin · 14/06/2013 22:45

People who continually update on Facebook need to get a life!

FlyingFig · 14/06/2013 22:55

I deactivated my FB for two reasons:

  1. Finding myself waving fists at the laptop due to this sort of status update on a regular basis

and

2)Finding myself posting inane status updates for no reason other than I had nothing else to say on a regular basis

Grin
Dorange · 14/06/2013 23:03

She doesn't do status, and that is what is intriguing me

This and the fact that she contacted half a dozen friends to babysit for her even though she has an au pair/ a mother's help who babysits when she needs and a CM who also babysits when she needs...oh and grandparents...but she still asked some friends well knowing that none would or could actually do it...

dontyouwantmebaby · 14/06/2013 23:06

I wouldn't try to wonder what is behind it. People use Facebook in different ways and the way they use it can change over time (from prolific status updater to sporadic posts only).

You say your friend doesn't share a lot on there but that could be down to their privacy settings. Maybe they only share specific things with certain people/groups.

If they really don't share a lot to anyone, it could simply be that they've now found the time and/or inclination.

Not everyone comments on photos just because their children are tagged either Confused

I don't think people playing out their relationship/personal issues on Facebook is a generational thing. People over-35 have been known to post TMI in that respect as well! Often its more to do with their personality type or is related to whatever stuff they happen to be dealing with in their life at that moment.

CogitoErgoSometimes · 15/06/2013 06:08

I'm sorry but I can't take this stuff seriously. I imagine the pair of them sat silently at the breakfast table, not exchanging a word but furiously typing the conversation into tablets and notebooks. FB gets the edited highlights .... 'Thanks for a lovely evening DH'..... 'You're welcome my lovely DW light of my life'. But then they IM the 'real conversation.... 'You still left the toilet seat up you fat bastard'...... 'And you're a bitter old cow and you're turning into your mother' Grin

SissySpacekAteMyHamster · 15/06/2013 06:23

I have a FB friend who is always going on about her "gorgeous" husband and how wonderful he is.... pity she didn't think that a couple of years ago when she was shagging her best mate's husband!

It seems like its a massive show of "look how strong we are" to everyone else and herself obviously!

CogitoErgoSometimes · 15/06/2013 06:51

I know.... like 'loud parenting' ( Tarquin darling, hurry up choosing your asparagus or we'll be late for gifted and talented club! ) the FB stuff is 'loud coupling'.

Lavenderhoney · 15/06/2013 07:09

Maybe he won't put his phone down and its the only way she can communicate with him? So its that or accidentally tip water all over it ( and him)

Casmama · 15/06/2013 07:19

I have a friend who recently upped the ante on FB with regards to her DH and I know that their marriage is a bit rocky.i think it is her way of bigging him up to give him an ego boost to put him in a better mood. Desperate? Yes.

NeedlesCuties · 15/06/2013 07:31

I'm 28 and have never had a FB account >proud<

From my point of view it just seems a bit sad that people can't enjoy the moment as they are too busy either taking pictures of every thing and uploading them, or typing status updates about them.

OP, if this is someone you know then perhaps you could just ask her why she put that status up when usually she's quiet and doesn't post much.

Are you worried about her being in a controlling relationship?

peteypiranha · 15/06/2013 07:38

Probably just drunk and wrote it as shes in a good mood. People.on mumsnet read way too much into fb posts. Its like sending a text, its so easy most people dont have a motive or reason.
