"she's nice"

Last night I blew up at my partner and now we're not talking and I'm starting to wonder if I over-reacted.

Basically, after tea we were bored so started flicking through the music channels, I do this to listen out for good songs, DP does this to see what girls he 'fancies'.

As per usual, after every channel switch I got "she's nice..." "oh I like her..." "mmmmm..." "oh it's Britney, now she IS nice..." "Id definately do her...." blah blah blah, he doesnt do it to annoy me though, he's actually being serious and see's nothing wrong with it.

Thursday night big brother started and we both sat down to watch it, as each female housemate entered I got "she's not too bad...", "She's got a good body...", "ooo I like her..."... This went on througout the whole bloody program and last night he started it again and I just flipped, he's always done it but I dont know any other adult bloke that acts like this, its like the whole purpose of tv to him is "bird watching", it infuriates me, he's like a bloody 13 year old kid.

Are any of your DP's as bad as this??

We ended up having a big argument over it and it was blown a little out of proportion but was I right to get a bit pissed off?

That would really piss me off too tbh

heavenis · 20/05/2006 17:21

Yes you were right.
Next time you watch the tv start commenting on all the blokes. Childish I know but then he might understand what it's like for you.

spacedonkey · 20/05/2006 17:21

hello heavenis

Northerner · 20/05/2006 17:25

My dh does this sometimes and it does wind me up I must admit, but I try to not let it show. I do the same thing about tasty men and he hates it. Then I calmly point out he does the same thing and he shuts up!

heavenis · 20/05/2006 17:27

hello spacedonkey

me23 · 20/05/2006 17:59

I don't think you over-reacted, it's not that he only does it occasionally but everytime you watch tv and all the way through a programme!
It would piss me right off!
I would have been livid,
has he apologised yet?
I hope so.

TambaTheDragonSlayer · 20/05/2006 18:02

I dont mind it when its done jokey, I do the same.

spacedonkey · 20/05/2006 18:04

oh no, my dp was told in no uncertain terms that he must maintain the fiction that I am the only women in the world from day one Grin

moondog · 20/05/2006 18:17

I wouldn't mind, prob. because it is so unbelievably puerile, but might make a point of doing dramatic double takes at any vaguely presentable bloke next time you're out.

vitomum · 20/05/2006 18:31

i wouldn't mind occassionally but not if it was a constant commentary on every woman who came on the telly. you could alsways try bursting his bubble with a few comments like 'dream on' or 'i'm sure she would say the same about you - not' etc.

moondog · 20/05/2006 18:33

No,don't even respond.
He wants you too!

cod · 20/05/2006 18:33

lol

gigglinggoblin · 20/05/2006 18:42

i dont mind dp commenting on women, but talking through a tv program i am watching would not go down well. and i do think it is a bit unnecessary to say it about every woman he sees.

buy a water pistol
fill it with water
keep it hidden next to you when watching tv
shoot him every time he comments.

he will get the messqage eventually
