This might sound like a daft problem but its doing my head in.

Basically my partner gets really into the tv and if something is funny he will laugh like a lunatic and make stupid noises in a high pitched tone.

If something is 'sqeamy' he will scrunch his face up, grab onto my arm or leg and start sqeezing really hard, makes stupid noises and pushes right into me on the sofa to the point where I am in pain... its like intense anticipation if you see what I mean?

Like I said though it really does hurt and often spoils the film/program for me and makes me not want to watch anything with him. Last time I mentioned it to him he got embarrassed and dismissed it saying he doesnt do it but it still continues.

My last option is to hurt him back, I feel like elbowing him in the side or actually hitting him and I know it sounds OTT and he doesnt doing it to be malicious but he wont stop so does he deserve it? Or would I be a bitch for hurting him because of it?

starlover · 08/05/2006 11:42

sit in a different chair? and when he makes too much noise tell him to shut up?

Hardy80 · 08/05/2006 11:45

Yes it is serious, like I said not a huge problem but it still does my head in.

I cant sit in another chair, we only have 1 3 seater sofa.

Shock
starlover · 08/05/2006 11:47

i'd sit on the floor then! maybe then he'll realise how much it annoys you

Twinkie1 · 08/05/2006 11:48

How aout screaming at him very loudly and shouting 'get off me you fucking lunatic I don't like it and you look like a right weirdo!!!'

sparkler1 · 08/05/2006 11:49

PNSL! Grin

chenin · 08/05/2006 11:54

do it back to him with knobs on - until he questions what you are doing..... then tell him you are imitating him...!

Hoopoe · 08/05/2006 11:57

Yeah do it back. Just imitate him for one of his favourite programs and see how he likes it!

maltesers · 08/05/2006 11:59

Tell him how awful and ridiculous he is being. (sounds a crackpot to me)and tell him he is really hurting you . If he gets into some program sit on the other sofa.

Hardy80 · 08/05/2006 12:06

I try taking the mick out of him, screaming and OTT laughing but he just gets embarrased and goes quiet before starting again. He always makes me feel guilty.

tranquiliser darts, all women should have them, i take some out in my handbag when im seeing my boyfriend, then if he drinks too much stella one shot and he's under the table asleep , perfect.

starlover · 08/05/2006 12:11

i would kjust sit as far away as possible from him. and point it out EVERY time he does it.

it is possible that he just gets carried away and doesn't realise how OTT he is being

bramblina · 08/05/2006 12:31

I'm so sorry but I'm ROFL! Do you remember Joey's girlfriend in Friends, where she was tiny but hit everyone? They all just eventually hit her back and she took off!!!! PMSL!

Hattie05 · 08/05/2006 16:57

I don't understand this. You are in a relationship right? Have you been together long?

Why does it embarrass him when you try and tell him to stop??

I'd follow along the lines of Twinkie1's post each time he did it until he stopped!
