You're not watching that

What would you do if you were sitting on the sofa with your partner and realised a film was on tv that you wanted to watch so decided to watch it...and your partner said "no, you're not watching that like.." because he wanted you to go to bed at the same time as him?

Would you a) obey his order
b) tell him to piss off
or c) something else

pmsl at obeying his order!

i would watch it and tell him to either piss off to bed or join me on the sofa watching it

morningpaper · 04/05/2006 20:46

why DO people go to bed at the same time as each other? What is that about?

PanicPants · 04/05/2006 20:48

b

but i do hate going to bed before dp cus hewakes me up when he comes to bed.

cataloguequeen · 04/05/2006 20:48

I'd say 'I'll be up in a minute' and then stay putGrin

starlover · 04/05/2006 20:49

for a bit of nooky MP?

bucksmum · 04/05/2006 20:53

I hate going to bed before dh cos he always falls asleep on the sofa and the sound of his snoring rocks the house! When he's in bed I can tell him to shut up and he does!

mstribiani · 04/05/2006 20:56

Personally I got irritated at being told what to do, just wondered what everyone else thought! lol :)

I would tell him that he is old enough to go to bed by himself!

Something along the lines of b.

Rhubarb · 04/05/2006 21:28

I wouldn't even waste my breath in responding - that's when fingers come into their own! Grin

maltesers · 04/05/2006 22:45

a, a, a, a, cos my dp never wants to go to bed especially for sex, so it would be a chance in a million! !

Piffle · 04/05/2006 22:47

c) something else
DP knows I loathe and detest sci fi and horror so he never asks to watch it but does say he feels unfairly treated.
So I told him I have no problems with him watching it, but I do not want to share it as violence makes me ill.
He then tries to compare it to being made to sit through an ITV drama or something...
Usually if we don't like something one of us will retreat to the pc Grin

marthamoo · 04/05/2006 22:50

We only go to bed at the same time if we're going to...well, you know. So, if I wanted to...you know...well, I'd record the film. And if I didn't...then I'd go for B Grin

My dh knows better than to give me 'orders' though Grin

And why am I saying 'you know'? When did I get so coy? We only go to bed at the same time if we're going to have sex. There you go.

TaiTai · 05/05/2006 00:06

Hmm, the whole going to bed issue has been a thorny one in my household recently. But I won't go into that. In answer to your question, I think it's how he put it that I would have a problem with rather than the fact he wants to go to bed at the same time (is companionship in my view, and it can be very disruptive if you're a light sleeper and your partner comes to bed much later) - i.e. the delivery and not the content.

Actually a Blush

Because we have a pact that we do go to bed together

it means the one not on the computer drags the other one upstairs, so we get more sleep

we have a nice chat and cuddle before we go to sleep (often only time in the day we bother)

and yes, if he comes up after me he wakes me up, so it is only fair to also come up when he wants me to.

If he said it rudely as you describe we would have words, however :)

FrannyandZooey · 05/05/2006 11:05

I meant:

Actually, (a)

secur · 05/05/2006 11:07

B - loudly Grin (oh and could he make me a cup of tea before he goes up Wink)

expatinscotland · 05/05/2006 11:09

b

coppertop · 05/05/2006 11:15

(b) and then stay up till the film finished - even if it turned out to be the worst film I'd ever had the misfortune to see. Stubborn? Me? :o
