Yes? Come on then ....

Click on 'Local' up near Talk at the top of the page here, pop in your post code, choose your town, hover over Meet Ups, and click the Friendship bench - and there it is.

(You may be asked to think of a new nick name to use on the local board. I was, but it was ages ago. Don't know if that's changed)

If there is no one there yet pleeeeese be brave enough to start the ball rolling. Just say 'Hi, who's there?' or similar.

I've been lurking round my Northamptonshire bench for ages. Hint hint Wink feeling lonely and trying to pluck up the courage to post.

Come on MNers, where ever you are, give it a go xxx

Oh i'm so glad there's a couple of positives happening already! Grin It's lovely to get feed back.

I've been casting my nets a little wider on the friendship benches too Firawla.

I'm trying to decide if i have the courage to become an Ambassador for meet-ups in one of 'my' areas. It seems to me that folks are struggling away trying to use the friendship benches to organise meet ups, because it's less daunting than becoming an official ambassador!

Sorry for this shameless fishing Blush but the official Northants meet-ups areas nearest to me are:
Brackley

Long Buckby
Oundle
Rushden
Thrapston
Towcester
Daventry
Desborough
Finedon
Long Buckby

Would anybody reading this now that lives near any of these places be interested in joining me in organising a meet or two?

Has anyone braver than me else had a look at being an ambassador for their own areas?

Hallo! I'm an LA for my area, I was a tsarina before the change. Meet-ups aren't too scary. I recommend you choose somewhere you are familiar with. I tend to choose local coffee shops I haunt normally with DD. have met the odd MNetter but have spent more meet-ups on my own. It does take a little while for people to make the step to come along.

It's worth starting a thread on local talk asking what suits everyone, I've found our area are fans of afternoon naps, so mornings are best.

As the summer comes in, walks along local buggy friendly routes are popular.

If you are feeling confident, I know an LA who has blagged one free coffee/tea for MN on meet-up dates! I'll work up to that once meet-ups get going.
