50s and going to try OD for the first time - which paid sites would you recommend?

I've been single for a year now and think the time is right to do some dating. I'm in a much better place than I was a year ago, so think I can handle the ups and downs as it were of OD.

Having read on MN about the knobs men on the free sites, I'm thinking the paid sites may be for me. I'm not flush, but could afford to pay.

Am concerned though that being in my 50s, I'll attract men in their 60s, which I don't want. They seem soooooooo old. I'd much prefer someone my age or a little younger. I'm after nice dates, nice times, maybe a relationship if someone very very very very special comes along. I know I'm sounding rather naive.

Just need some recommendtions, guidance and other words of wisdom, please.

Guardian Soulmates is a good choice. I think it shares the membership with the Telegraph and Times sites.

I know what you mean. I had lunch with a friend (male) recently who is maybe late 50s, and when we got on to political views it was like listening to my dad.

Dating Direct (part of Match.com) is pretty good - mostly decent people on there. Costs around £70 for 6 months. Also I have heard Loveandfriends is great, it attracts well-educated, professional people based mainly in the south, London and home counties. You can join Loveandfriends for free though it limits how many emails you can send, though you can send a few. It doesn't cost too much to become a full member but you do have to be pro-active rather than sit back and wait for someone to contact you.

Loveandfriends (when I went on it for the forum) was known for the fact nobody ever had a date.

Ah, I didn't know that - maybe that's why my friend mentioned the "pro active" bit!!!
