Divorce costs - would you go half?

The soon-to-be ex-husband is initiating divorce proceedings - I left at the end of October. Anyway, he contacted me today telling me that we will need to go half on the divorce fees. I said no of course. But I'm wondering, would you?

We are having what can be termed as an amicable divorce: no children - no property together - no joint accounts; nothing basically so we will just have a hopefully straightforward divorce, but I couldn't help think: the cheek of the man!

How much are the fees? As there are no children or property to be taken into consideration, you can divorce online for a total cost of some £200-300 inclusive of Court fees.

If your divorce is 'amicable' why would you object to paying £150, which sum many would consider cheap at 10 times the price to experience the joys of being single again Smile

Not cheeky at all, simply fair. If, as you say, you were the one who left then some would say the full cost should be yours! Go halves, get it done and move on.

Okay ladies, I hear you. I'm sending the marriage certificate off to him and yes, for the joy of being single again and moving on, I'll go half
