Advice please on best types of lubrication.......

Can I please have some advice on good brands of lubrication (especially for sensitive skin) and where are the best places to buy them?

I am a not-so-young lady (hence needing the lubrication!) embarking on a new and exciting romance after the end of a 40 year old marriage and therefore not very familiar with the products cuurently available.

Am I on the correct topic for some advice?

Thank you

First of all, good for you and secondly, it might be worth having a look at Love Honey online - they have lots of choice, reviews and advice and it's a very down to earth site.

I would recommend either Replens or Sylk. Many of the other lubricants such as KY and the Durex range don't appear to work as well for women who have noticed a change since menopause.

Talk to your local pharmacist?

I've tried a few and I like Durex aloe vera lube, it's very gentle and has little taste and no scent, it also leaves my skin (and DH's skin) really soft and smooth. I don't rate Boots own or ky but had a sample of sylk and that seemed ok.

The ones 'medically recommended' are Replens or Sylk as being the most lubricating.

Rather than a pharmacist (who is likely to just hand you some KY) going to somewhere female friendly like the Love Honey website or Sh! in Hoxton would be good if Replens or Sylk don't suit you, or just seem a bit medicinal.

However as 'not-so-young' lady it would be worth seeing your GP about oestrogen creams which can help a hue amount.

And congratulations on the romance!

Thank you, ladies. Looking at various websites now!

I did speak to my GP and was prescribed with HRT pessaries but all they gave me was a severe bout of thrush!

Please wish me luck - very nervous!
