Do you tell posters to call WomensAid and if so...have you done so?

I have. It was a disaster. Understaffed. Under resourced and staff member who I finally spoke to was asking loads of v personal questions whilst having third conversation with another at her end of phone (who presumably could see my name etc being written down)

At end of all this when I felt exposed and vulnerable she then casually said they were busy and someone would call me back next week!

So....when I read the common advice of 'call WA' I flinch.

(Yes it's a charity, yes I could fund raise for them etc etc. My point is more one of concern that this commonly given advice might not always be helpful. I felt more distressed after my call than before

Call back and complain, or write in and complain, that is unacceptable.

I recommend WA often, it's a good RL life line, and was in my experience of it.

If you are unhappy with people asking you personal questions, you can say so.

You could call Respect, they are set up to help perps Hmm, but seeing as perps rarely think they are ever in the wrong, the lines are rarely busy and the staff are under utilised.

I did speak to the manager a week later when she returned my call. She was apologetic and I understood it wasn't her fault. It does make me nervous when I see it recommended so much though

No need of it now. But thank you

I do, but i live in Wales and think the funding is better here.

I have a drop in centre for women in my local little town, which has WA staff present in the week. They have a charity shop next door which also helps with funding for days out etc..

I think it may depend where you live maybe?
Sorry it was so awful for you Sad
