It's my wedding anniversary tomorrow and the only thing I want is a fucking divorce!

That's it really. Been married for 4 years tomorrow and it didn't occur to either of us to buy each other a card/ present. Obviously, being New Years Eve it's an easy date to remember but neither one of us remembered it was our actual anniversary which kind of says it all. I've had a crap Christmas thanks to his perpetual misery and nastiness and I don't want another crap Christmas next year.

Oh, and I'm a cunt as well apparently...

OK, so what's stopping you?

northcountrygirl · 30/12/2012 18:40

I have absolutely no idea what's stopping me. It's always been awful (been married 4 years and together for 7) and I honestly have no idea what has kept me here. We have a daughter together and I have twins from a previous marriage so maybe it's just the fear of failing at a second marriage, and the affacet a divorce would have on the children. I can't carry on like this though - I am so so miserable.

It's not your failure, though - it's his. He's failed to be a good husband, so dump his sorry arse and make a happier life for yourself and DC.

JustFabulous · 30/12/2012 18:46

She may have also failed at being a good wife.

Both of you are unhappy which means your kids probably are too., so the best thing to do is to voice it and get a divorce under way.

tribpot · 30/12/2012 18:46

There will be effects on your children from living in this kind of atmosphere.

Seems unclear whether he was actually any nicer before you married him, but no point in perpetuating the mistake.

ThePinkOcelot · 30/12/2012 19:48

I absolutely hate that word! No one deserves to be called names at all! He sounds like a twat!

If you're of the same mind on January 2, join the massive queue source a solicitor who specialises in divorce and famly law.

If you are eligible for legal aid act sooner rather than later as the rules are changing in April and you may miss the boat if you wait for another miserable Christmas to come and go.

tiredofwaitingforitalltochange · 30/12/2012 20:09

join the massive queue

izzyizin · 30/12/2012 20:17

'Tis true, tired. January (after the Christmas hols) and September (after the summer hols) are the busiest months for divorce solicitors Smile

As the forthcoming changes to entitlement to legal aid for divorce become more widely known, it's probable that this coming year will see the massive queue stretching through till the end of March and those who dither slowcoaches are likely to miss out.

tiredofwaitingforitalltochange · 30/12/2012 20:21

Yeah I've got a feeling the most 'popular' day is Jan 7th, but don't quote me on that :)

ErikNorseman · 30/12/2012 20:23

What changes are happening wrt legal aid?

izzyizin · 30/12/2012 20:40

If you're right, the OP is best advised to beat the rush get in on the 2nd, tired Grin

It's proposed that from April 2013 legal aid for divorce will only be granted in cases of extreme- dv, Erik

BunnyKelly · 30/12/2012 21:44

If things are that bad, I'll add my inaugural leave the bastard.

Seriously, it sounds awful. I'd be extricating me and the kids from the situation.

tiredofwaitingforitalltochange · 30/12/2012 22:00

I don't think that you should care about what the world thinks OP. There aren't medals awarded for hanging on in a bad marriage and if there were, they wouldn't be worth having as an alternative to happiness.

Apparently Jan 8th is the busiest day for lawyers btw
