Anyone who's divorced - England decree absolute question

Wasn't sure where to put this question hope it's ok here.

I need to send my original decree absolute to an insurance company. The only thing I can find is a court document, one single pice of paper, with a case number on the right hand side and it has the court stamp (seal) there too. It gives details of our names, the marriage date and place and does say 'it is hereby certified that the said decree - date- is made final and absolute '
I'm not sure if this is the original document, or a photocopy from my solicitor, as the court seal isn't imprinted it's just flat like it's been stamped.
I have it in my head that I had a much larger document (ie several sheets of A4 paper with an actual seal on it) that I thought was the DA but I can't find that anywhere.
Can someone please check their DA and see if it sounds like mine.

The paper you have found is what I was sent as my decree absolute. I never had a proper certificate. Just a few typed lines of info and court stamp. Is the stamp in colour? Mine was blue iirc. If you have the case number and feel the need you can get a new decree absolute from the court for about £5

Thanks Stacey, yes the stamp is red on mine, sounds as if this is the actual document the insurance co needs then.

My decree absolute came through the other day (yippee) and it was a single piece of paper with a red court stamp on it and a few lines like yours.

The one sheet of paper you have is your decree absolute.

Before sending it anywhere either photocopy it or make a note of the details should you need to obtain another one from the Court.

In effect, these documents are copies of originals that are held in the Divorce Registry.

Years and years and years ago I issued Absolutes in the County Court. I rarely post anything as my info could be seriously out of date. However, it sounds exactly like the ones I used to send out.

Does the insurance company actually want the original? You can get a copy of the DA from the county court for a fee, if you need another copy, but I would check that with the court. Good luck!

I will definitely copy it. I got married nearly 25 years ago and these numpties (the ins co) never updated the policy to my married name then when I wrote to tell them. They also lost the original marriage cert which caused problems before the divorce..I'm now trying to prove that I did get married so they can update the policy. Even though I'm now divorced, because I didn't revert to my maiden name post divorce.. Head spin.

LisaMed cross post yes they want all originals of everything I'm sending them and are claiming it's for legal reasons (fraud/stolen id etc?). Their track record at losing my documents previously has made me very nervous about this so everything is going Special Delivery and fingers and toes crossed.
