Difficult relationship between my friend and the mother of his DS. Any advice?

My friend is struggling with demands from his ex regarding their son.
He has recently got a job again and she CSA'd him whilst he was unemployed breaking an already agreed private decent amount.

He does tend to indulge his DS(10) a bit (lot) and I have been playing devils advocate as I'm a 32yr old mum of DD 12 (no make that 24, and where are all my heels DD!

I'm in the same situation where I pay CSA (happily) for my DD but with a totally different relationship dynamic.

Trying to explain how his mum may be spending her money.

He is upset about being asked for school uniform costs on top of CSA, whereas I'm happy to contribute as I know it's well spent on the family to benefit DD.

I'm not brave enough for AIBU

But

Am I or is he?there I said it

I don't think he should pay for half of uniform. The CSA calculate how much he should pay and that covers food and clothing.

Can I ask if the CSA takes any other factors into account such as the child's part in the general household usage like electric and water, or costs of activities like swimming or keyboard lessons, and costs of days out/fuel used?

He sends thanks for replies , it's nice to have other mums opinion as his DM is not very helpful and he has no sisters close enough to ask.

They normally take 15% of earnings and thats suppose to cover the day to day stuff,if the child wanted swimming lessons its up to him if he wants to pay.

Thanks that's great.
I see it as she could want a contribution but he is within his rights to refuse it.
This is helping. I'm off to bed as I am building cars at 6:00am and need me kip.

Tell him to go on the CSA website,it'll explain everything.
