What a fucking nob - I'm so angry

Name changer

H is a contractor that has had five weeks off - getting to the end of the comfort period - drank six pints, built a bike ramp, fell off the end, lodger took him to hospital because I wasn't impressed, has broken the ball of his foot in three places, probably can't work for a few weeks.

I had a giggly phone-call from A&E due to much morphine.

I'm not actually laughing that much.

Apparently I am an uncaring bitch??

Because not being able to pay your mortgage is amusing.

O dear. It's likely to be longer than 3 weeks and not being able to make mortgage repayments is no laughing matter.

Do you have any insurance policies that may cover him for accidents? Check the smallprint of any you've got.

izzyizin · 06/07/2012 00:24

If it's any consolation, he won't be laughing when the morphine wears off but I daresay you'll be suffering his moans of pain too.

Aaaarrrssee · 06/07/2012 00:57

Yes Izzy (& thanks for replying) - we do have insurance - BUT WE'RE NOT COVERED FOR BEING AN ABSOLUTE CUNTBADGER.

So we're fucked basically.

& I'm a twat for not being sympathetic.

In which case feel free to tell him he's the Aaaarrrssee Angry

Are you absolutely certain there's nothing you can claim? Even if it means a reduced payout due to him being a cuntbadger who is wholly partially liable for the accident?

And now to the question of raising extra funds for the mortgage repayments. Tempting as it may be, endeavouring to sell his injured body is unlikely to net much tax free return.

In the old days folk took in extra washing to ends meet. Maybe that's a possibility? He won't be going anywhere and, providing you bung it in the tub and peg it out, he can sit down and iron for hours - that'll take his mind off his throbbing foot.. and will it ever throb [evil grin emoticon]

It's worth checking out if there are any benefits available or if he qualifies for sick pay from an employer.

Employment Support Allowance
Statutory Sick Pay

Who can get Statutory Sick Pay?
If you're working for an employer under a contract of service (even if you've only just started and you have done some work), you're entitled to Statutory Sick Pay (SSP) if the following apply:
-you're sick for at least four days in a row (including weekends and bank holidays and days that you do not normally work)
you have average weekly earnings of at least £107 a week

BTW... if he had been given very strong pain-relief like morphine at the hospital he won't have been talking rationally. He's behaved irresponsibly but I think you have to make some allowances for what he said.

Critical illness cover?

LaurieFairyCake · 06/07/2012 13:47

To be fair he could have had an accident drunk or sober - why wouldnt you be covered on your insurance? Confused

(I'm not excusing the twattishness of being drunk)

MissFaversam · 06/07/2012 13:49

I'd kill him when he got home

Just an idea OP Grin

BarbaraWoodlouseAspiringHooker · 06/07/2012 13:50

Wouldn't be critical illness, fluffi, more like regular sickness. Not sure if that is a even a possibility for self employed cuntbadgers people.

Is a mortgage holiday a possibility, OP?

fluffiphlox · 06/07/2012 14:04

Quite right Barbara. However, as a self-employed type bod wouldn't he have some sort of cover in case of accident, say on site?
